The most Star Trekky game?
What is the most Star Trek-feeling/themed game you have played? Is there any games that catches the feeling of Space: the final frontier. These are the voyages of the starship Enterprise. Its continuing mission: to explore strange new worlds. To seek out new life and new civilizations. To boldly go where no one has gone before! ?

It doesn't need to be any of the Star Trek games or is actually preferable if it isn't as they tend be caught lacking. It is the feeling of going into deep space and.. keep on going, not knowing what to expect. Planets, singularities, Q, civilizations, black holes, galaxies, exploration, nebulosas, warpspeed (or equivelent), weirdness, phenomenons, spaceships, surprises and so on and on.

What do I mean when I say Star Trekky? Star Trek is all about discovery, astonishment, search, the unknown, light action rather than action heavy (I mean I dont want to bash my head against the Klingons near Uranus all the time). I want the series much rather than the films. As the films are always constant action and war.

Please give me your recommendations and if you will a short motivation, I would be a very, very happy space camper.

Star Trek online? Or a peaceful scenario in Stellaris? You can create your own species/empire as you want. It can be discovery and research-focused.

It's really sad but I don't think you will find something that is exactly like Star Trek. I really love the movies and tv series too. But nothing reflects star trek's intellectuality today. :( It is something that was so absolutely original that nobody will be able to make another one. At least that's what I think.

Thank you Lady Noire! I've looked at Star Trek Online and it lack so much depth.

Stellaris used to have really good Star Trek-mods, but then they changed spacetravel and.. It wasn't very much gpoing into deep space and be amazed either. Alas I stopped playing after the BIG overhaul they had some years back.

I agree! I love the intellectuality of Star Trek! The series and the movies are still very much part of my dream of a better world and future.

I think Star Trek Online is more for the nostalgia more than anything else.

The obvious answer here is this - see the discussion section for more info on beta testing a current build:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1470940/STAR_FLEET_II__Krellan_Commander_Version_20/

The Starflight and Star Control series' are pretty good on the exploring and talking side. There's another very good ASCII game but the name totally escapes me now. The original Elite also had a very trek feel to me.

But if you want something that focuses on the diplomacy/social/science side of Star Trek, I'd recommend Star Trek: The Next Generation – A Final Unity. It's a really good adventure game, but the easy ship combat really lets it down.

There are obviously loads of great space games out there, but I feel these are the most "trekkie".

Krellan commander sounds amazing. And I'm old enough to remember the time when graphics was very, very simple. I wishlisted it and hope it will dock one day.

Original Elite was awesome! It was a really rough patch before you could buy the landing computer though.

Starflight and Star Control are good recommendations. I will check them out.

Yeah, exactly, there are tons of really good space games and I enjoy them, but sometimes I just miss Star Trek.

Thank you Bee!

A classic

This has flown right under my sensors.

Thank you Wizardhermit!
I highly recommend Star Control 2. You can buy it here on Steam or look up Star Control 2: The Ur Quan Masters, and snag the converted 3do version for free.

Star Trek Online was fun. You can pick classic aliens from the source material or make your own unique species as your captain. I had a lot of fun with the ship based combat and away missions.

Depressing, frustrating... just like new Trek.
But it goes 90% off every once in a while. Definitely worth a try.

A rough little gem developed by one guy.

Plays like a solitary board game. Great exploration experience for a few runs.

That's just on Steam though.

The most "Star Trekky" game is Star Fleet Battles.

I would say Pulsar: Lost Colony.

I can think of no better Kobayashi Maru holodeck simulation than FTL of course for starship commanders.

Thank you people! That is a good list to explore!
