A sonic open world game?
Didnt Sega learned their lesson with sonic generations that the classic view works best for that franchise?Im a huge open world fan but only with rpgs where you quest around with your personal avatar and where it’s actually meaningful but assassins creed for example is just grind at that point…. the worlds becoming bigger and bigger with no depth at all

A sonic open world game sounds pretty boring.Run from point a to b collect this and that there you have an achievement.Don’t know why devs think that everything has to be open world

I'm definitely curious of how they do it. If they do well. A lot of the zones from the games really do seem like it was only a matter of time until they tried this.

My fingers are crossed. lol

Because open world means more hours the player will put in the game by exploring the map and other things.

But on topic, a Sonic open world game sounds a bizarre concept to me. It's kinda unorthodox because well Sonic is known for going fast through a level from start to finish avoiding obstacles and destroying Badniks. I mean look at Sonic Boom.

Also is this the fault of BotW? A little inspiration perhaps? It's not for me to say.

They better not hold back, if they plan on going through that route.

Make it an ARPG sandbox, in other words or pull a Saint's Row / Sunset Overdrive on that ♥♥♥♥. With heavy character customization and all.

Better yet: add the ability to create your own "Sonic". With gender sliders and lots of unlockables, etc - and go on ahead and throw them ♥♥♥♥♥♥ microtransactions and NFTS already, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. You know you want to, anyway, SEGA.

I can already see 9999+ golden rings as collectibles, though. Wack.

Anyway. I'm, more than likely, doing a better work here, with just a few words, than all the suits on SEGA combined. I demand royalties.

Good movement mechanics in games are one of the main things I look for.

Some games make it fun to just move from point A to point B, like say, the last two Spiderman games.

If Sega can pull that off, great, but then again, this is Sega we're talking about.
My first thoughts are...

It is going to involve a lot of chases and races.

The "levels" will be seperate instanced locations you will enter like shrines or dungeons.

That there will be a lot of roads/paths to get around on so you can "Go Fast."

You will get sneaker upgrades.

It will be boring without a miracle of level and world design.

This is a bad idea since Sega started treating Sonic like garbage. It is going to be another game where it is a glitch that accidentally has a hiccup of gameplay.

GTA V earning 800 million dollars on release day alone might be a reason why.

In a way, it's because of San Andreas. Not solely because of the genre.

I mean Breath of the Wild was disappointing in many ways but exploring the whole world was very fun

I would really like to pick your brain on that statement, as I have seen it a few times and naturally am curious about how your experience differed from mine as I love most of BotW. But not the subject at hand, so later.

I honestly can't say if I would be curious to explore the world of Sonic. It's not just the speed issue. Unlike games like BotW, Sonic levels in previous games are as much wildly verticle as they are horizontal. And I don't even want to imagine the vomit inducing use of bumpers.

Honestly, a good Sonic game is like pinball. Which is funny as the Sonic Pinball game was garbage.

How do you translate that into a 3d open world well?

I'm not sure really, I never really meant to imply that it would work well. BotW is kinda similar as in it's a bit different from other LoZ games, though I suppose it'd be harder for something like Sonic to transition well into open world

I don't like this idea.

Personally, open-world and Sonic do not belong together.

Sonic adventure battle 2 was good. Sonic adventure 1 was not.

Chao gardens was the best modern sonic invention and they threw it away like pokemon company threw out megas.

If its good, maybe I'll play it, but its doubtful

I owned Sonic Adventure DX for PC and all I did was hangout in the Chao Garden. It was more enjoyable than rest of the game to be honest.

Hope this game has Chao Garden. I want little Chaos!

All we can hope is that they will bring it back to appease to older fans
