Non horror games that disturbed/scared you?
Like, games that aren't meant to be scary, but still freaked you out. I got quite a few, so here we go.

- Gears of War (The OG): Compared to the next entries, Gears 1 is pretty freaking dark. The gritty, apocalyptic atmosphere, plus all the freaky sequences like the berserkers and kryll, gives this game a very frightful edge to it.

- Fallout 1: Like Gears 1, Fallout 1 has much more of a spooky feel to it than it's sequels. There's not too much humor or light moments (if there is humor, it's dark jokes), the world feels genuinely decayed and dead, and has more than enough disturbing places and characters.

Soma.
The story was way more disturbing that the game itself and still gives me the chills.
soma is horror game

Personally I didn't feel the horror, as the exploration and story completely overshadow the horror aspects. Ennemies being more an annoyance than scary.
But that's my personnal take.

you can still dying from them and you can only run away from them, it is like little nightmare when evil guy run after you and you try to escape from him
Thief 1-3.
In 1 and 3 you have some spooky missions with great horror atmosphere.
In 2 you have Servants that whisper for help and giggle when you knock them out and how they are being made... well... disturbing.

If you play Operation Flashpoint, at some point, you're alone in a forest and Soviet patrol points are set running through your position. You cannot get out of the forest, because the forest is surrounded by enemy tanks. That's kind of scary, because of all the trees you cannot get a clear view on the soldiers, or successfully track them. It's very easy to loose track of their trace behind all the trees, but you can hear their footsteps approaching.

I know it's gonna be really silly but I remember I played Sims 4 once and I wanted to visit a Sim that I wanted to romance but I had no idea that he moved out so I went to his house and knocked on the door and it said "Nobody lives there" and it kinda spooped me looool

When I was a kid I had a demo disk for the original PlayStation that had a demo for the first metal gear solid game and I was too scared to move and get caught by the guards
I don't remember which one of the Tomb Raiders it was, but it might've been TR2.

I don't really get creeped out by games in horror/shock/creepy genres. I guess I could, but I don't really pursue those sorts of titles, anyway.

But... two examples of things that do creep me out and keep me from buying these games:

https://store.steampowered.com/app/599140/Graveyard_Keeper/

https://store.steampowered.com/app/251570/7_Days_to_Die/

These are games that are perfect for me! I'd love playing these... but:

In GK, which has all sorts of depth, mechanics, crafting, goals, building, management... wow, just everything! But, the player renders fat and other bits from human corpses to make things.

Seven Days to Die! Wow! Exploration, combat, crafting, base-building, base-defense, LOOTZ! Sign me up... 'cept zombies.

I've played Rimworld for ages, but never once did I come close to "cannibalism." At best, I've stored the human remains of defeated raiders in a room that I allowed my combat doggies access to... so... I didn't have to worry too much about feeding them. Even then, I was a bit put off by that.

I don't like human corpses. I don't like zombies. I don't like cannibalism. I'm not a fan of rotting human flesh. I can certainly appreciate a good zombie movie. I'm OK with that. But, something like "The Walking Dead" series just makes me nauseous, largely because the story is crap after the first Season or two. But, in gaming? Sure, making cartoon corpses in Terraria even more deader is fine, but for anything more... I am just not "entertained." /shrug
Dead Hand, Wallmasters and ReDeads.

Dragon Quest XI. All was good up until it forced you to play as the gay character who made everyone dress up in pink flamingo uniforms and prance around to raise the morale of the villagers.

If I was one of those villagers I would be even more frightened than when the demon king conquered the land.
