People's relationship standards are unrealistic today
When was it okay to not accept anyone unless they're perfect? Divorces are a thing today.

Everyone is different, therefore everyone's standards are different. People that struggle to find dates love to pick at anything else that causes them to remain single but it comes down to themselves and their approach towards others.

The people who think it's everyone else's fault are often too dumb to realise it's really their fault

Why is the rate of marriages falling in the U.S. then?

I saw this on reddit and I like it:

The Venn diagram of people interested in me and people who I am interested in has no overlap.

Your standards are never too high as long as you don't complain about being single.

It's not that they're "too high."

It's that they're not based in reality - they're based on TikTok "Relationship Advice" shorts. They're formulated by people who don't seem to have much experience with... other people, yet have set expectations that can't survive "other people."

Some people, at some time, always have "high expectations." At any one period in time there are tons of people shooting above their pay-grade... We just used to try to get them to set some more realistic expectations and hoped that either they got what they were looking for or they'd finally face reality.

Today, you've got subreddits dedicated to people whining about how they didn't get themselves and their entire family comped on their meals while on their first date from their... whatever-dating-app date they were using in lieu of a personality.

PS: I talked to a friend of mine today about just such an experience, with a bit of nuance. And, we're retirement age sorts, so don't think this is just confined to younger persons. Though, it mostly is... After a certain age, you start to get a bit more practical. :)

People are less motivated to work on their relationships as well. Divorces are a lot easier to get than in the past.
