Is Diablo 2 boring or is it just me?

I'm just... bored. Really bored really fast. I never played it back in the day. I don't want to post this on the official forums cos of the fanboys.

Playing WOW vanilla today is way more fun than Diablo 2. And I got no nostalgia for that either. I never played WOW vanilla back in the day. It has a LOT more skills to manage even early level, beautiful open world, better writing, more variety with the different zones for different races, crafting skills, player interaction.

I levelled a human paladin to 60 last year. And it was a ton of fun. I got bored of Diablo 2 after clearing the first dungeon. It's just auto attacking and using 1 skill. And from what I see, ideal builds barely use any skills, even when levelling.

Is it just me or is Diablo 2 dated and boring?

I'm not paying for it again, even if I would like to revisit it.... I'll keep looking for the CD-ROM in the junk pile.

When I take the nostalgia goggles off there are lot of quality of life options missing from it compared to modern games, making it rather annoying to play now.

You mean it was not dumbed down so casuals could play without needing to know anything other than the fire button? That is true.

Unfortunately the characters designs are ugly, specially Assassin. The game itself is nice but many people quit D2R due to character remake.

Although they seem somewhat abbandoned and lacking an envolved community.

It wouls be great to see mods and new things being made on top of those engines.

So yeah. It cannot be too difficult.

For a lot of other games you cannot do that. Or it would be a hell of a lot more difficult.

I heard most of the pvp bots that let you win were actually trackers that watched your trading patterns and isolated you during squeezes.

The ears had enough data on them to embed a tracking cookie in your name using non-displayed characters.

But they weren't player bots.
They were more like, A.I. bots. Or maybe you should call them something else?
But they were not player bots, regardless of what they're called.
