This is pretty awesome

Actually a lot of male vocalists are so bad I can't tell the difference between their singing voice versus if they were just yelling into the microphone. A lot of female singers actually have a clear difference between their talking voice and the way they sing.
if it's some kinda electronic-heavy music with a pumpin beat a "chick voice" is generally nice I think...
but if it's like something more soul-like or rap/hiphop I think a male voice is more pleasing.
rock is kinda hack way between, depends what the beat is.
I guess it depends on whom you are and what you like. There are so many spectrums and good singers have many technics, but when you have someone that sings, plays an instrument and also writes the song themselves, then its much more powerful, than having 1 person just sing...
This comes to mind.

I reckon most people would like this.. its also pretty fun to play and sing.
May also have to do with the thing that i guess that more males sing their own lyrics, while more females will sing lyrics of someone else, to sell the stuff better. They´re then basically only the singers, not the artists who do the whole package.
I tend to listen to more music with male vocalists.
The whole wretched voice screamings of all the smashingpumking clone sounding bands was always horrible to me.
Pink Floyd
Roxy Music
King Crimson
NIN
Female stuff
There is some pretty awful female vocalists.
But there are some pretty great ones.
Happy Rhodes
10000 maniacs
Animal Logic
B52s
Bjork
Laurie Anderson
Kate Bush
Loreena McKennitt
Madonna
Sarah McLachlan
Sinead O'Connor
I.e. female version of Linkin Park, Smash Mouth, or Breaking Benjamin?
Or a male version of Scandal, Nightwish, or.. Code Red?
That would've made their music lost its charm entirely.
While I can't deny that getting myself to listening to them was at first the melody, the vocals are very important factor for whether I keep listening or move on.
Depends, really.
There are and there aren't exceptions at the same time.
One of the best examples I do know is a track called No by Meghan Trainor. How I dislike the original one, while the male crossover just rocks and makes me all captivated..
it wasn't the same... it was also probably a different genre too which made it worse.
