When it comes to listening to English music it doesn't matter to me whether or not it is a male or female voice singing.

I can't say the same for Japanese singing, however. I much prefer listening to females sing. I have a few male bands that I listen to but that is very few and far between. 2 or 3 max to be honest.

If it were possible to compile my entire listening history, I'm sure it'd be weighted towards men. I think maybe I accept "boring" male vocals more easily than similarly indistinct female vocals. But I like some female vocals a lot, so I'd say no true preference, ultimately.

Rock music is mostly male vocals. I listen to the Carpenters too and Fleetwood Mac etc and they would all suffer without female voices. It's a zero sum game.

Your sound mix will have room for one range usually, so the answer is - you should select vocalist based on whichever frequencies the rest of the master is too light on

I don't care. If I like a song, it doesn't matter to me if a man or a woman is singing the song. If I'm playing a video game, it doesn't matter to me if the main character is male or female. To me, you're a person, a human being. I don't choose what I listen to or play based on gender.
