When the exclusivity (or inclusivity) deal pays more than the company expects to make on sales, then there's no incentive for them to actually make a sellable product.

so if people dont care about borderland now, i dont see them care about this movie in semptember, also betelgeuse 2 coming in september
so borderland is toasted
first week. if it doesn't recover the costs then, it's considered a critical failure at the box office, doesn't matter what is said in an extra week or the next month and a half.
