Now its about connecting to a mega corps digital store.
Yeah man, it seems like it. Especially since many games are made about you buying more stuff rather than taking challenges with friends or making friends.
Bext example is how WOW once was and is now.
Of course its the people, I mean the games still offer all these options, even beyond that with every game having an integrated VOIP option nowadays.
But what the hell is it with people ??? What is so enjoyable and fun about not talking to anyone in a video game, to share a few things, to chit-chat a little, why do they even start up multiplayer in the first place.
Non of this makes any sense to me.
Matchmaking, balance, progress and style have all been changed to encourage spending in a store.
This change makes the games appealing to a different, broader audience, in the same way Fast food is.
But wouldn't the market adjust to what the people want and not shape the people itself ?
I mean they wouldn't offer all this nonsense if people would not care about it.
90% of time I can't identify with most players around me anyway, not in regards to what maps or playstyle they like compared to mine even.
I am not, because its an ongoing process and 20 yrs ago, this it wasn't remotely as bad.
Perhaps. I don't know, either way...this is what it is NOW and it really sucks.
I feel even a bit sad for the younger generations because they don't even know what they are missing out on. It must be the same feeling all the people felt for us, the people who experienced the 60s and 70s as young men and women, as by the looks of it, this time looks pretty fun.
I mean hippies, woodstock and so on, no smartphone, no people being clued to their phones, no TikTok or Insta, just people being people, in the real world, engaging with each other on a daily basis.
Technology is great but the internet and computers " for the people " have really degenerated society and created a black hole for society and socialising.
If you have friends. Random sucks.
So true.
They have metrics and algorithms all focused on turning "players into payers"
Things like FOMO, battle-passes, start bundles, matchmaking and in-game prrogress are tightly manufactured not for fun, not to be competitive, but to make you spend.
Acti-Blizz patented a matchmaking system for this a decade ago and everyone seems to forget.
You arent being matched against a player of equal skill, but a player that is wearing a skin that the GAME has decided based on profiling that you would like. That player will wreck you.
Now theres a tiny part of your mind that thinks "good players wear that skin"
It's a whole thing.
