Sure, there are some exceptions. The West rules the FPS space, for example. But on the whole, the Land of the Rising Sun has been showing us how to do it since the 80's.

Nintendo is a contender, but there are so many other Japanese studios that have their names on many, many all-time classics. Some have gone through good and bad eras, but no top 100 all time list would be complete without a number of titles from Square, Konami, Capcom, Sega, Platinum or Namco.
