Have you checked out of modern dating as a man?
There are worse ways to die than alone.

Maybe they should rename dating to something else for Gen Z.
No need to. When older generation enters the stage where they won't be dating anymore or do it very little, we can just start calling "modern dating" dating. Because that's all there will be left.
Maybe they should call it, "Who has the most Instagram followers?"

you only ever answer me to bump your threads when they're dying out, *sigh* you think you're smarter than you actually are. i offered my help earlier BUT i figured you're just a troll.
Lol, I'm serious. Why should I care about something that the man is supposed to pay for in this economy?

I'm basically practicing Jnana Yoga. Dating? Do I get insight into the true nature of reality that way? No? OK, busy then.

I have zero issues dating. The stuff ya'll complain about I haven't even encountered. I really don't see a difference in dating now than I did in the late 90s.

There are far more harrowing experiences and scarier things than asking a woman out on a date. There, corrected it for you.

The issues you Westerner guys have.. LOL

idk wtf you're supposed to do anymore... used to be men were strong and had strong ideas and like "MMM STRONG MAN!!"

but now men seem to be shunned for being strong and having strong ideas...

There's a difference between having masculine ideals and toxic masculinity. The whole "man up" mentality is the latter, because it brushes mental welfare aside for example.

However, there are people who blur the lines between the two.

I'm just not sure how one would define "being a man" otherwise?

it's not legitimate to determine by chromosomes anymore, so what else would determine it other than personality?

When I mean "be a man" by "manning up" I mean "Your criticisms and emotions are invalid, bury them and get it done"

This type of mentality is partially why we as men, have higher suicide rates.

I'm nearing my 40's and I still believe when he's able, and willing, a man should take care of his household and family, defend it, etc. As I'm sure, you too believe.

But I tell all my friends, I'd rather hear their problems than attend their funerals. It's small changes like that, where we can still keep masculine values, without crossing into toxic masculinity.

because this is how we were raised... "man up! stop complaining! be tough! do all the work!"
but in a world where anyone can do that... what is "being a man"?
"being a man" gettin real complicated.

Just because someone was raised a way, doesn't necessarily make it right though.

Instead we should focus on value we hold, and hold true to them in a means that doesn't belittle or demean others.

My cousin who is older by a year or two was disabled in an oil rig explosion a number of years back, he struggles with PTSD and chronic pain on a daily basis. Legit a "man's man" if you ever saw one.

Never admitted he was struggling, bottled it up, etc. We sat down and talked, I touched the subject of his dad (since my own was...less than stellar) and it got around to how he idolizes his dad, and feels like less of a man because he can't follow in his father's footsteps anymore.

He was effectively killing himself emotionally to try and seem fine, and I believe if he didn't get help after our talk (I do not take claim for this, because his mother, father, and wife are an excellent support system) he likely wouldn't be here today. All because he believed society demands he suffer in silence.

And there are going to be people who genuinely believe that, from both genders. "Your feelings don't matter, deal with it."

But we need to do something, and frankly, I'm secure enough in my own masculinity where I can be soft if needed, if it eases someone's suffering.
