Ship vs airplane. 50/50 risk of falling/sinking.
If you must choose between a ship and an airplane, to travel through Pacific Ocean, with knowing that 50/50 chance of going down. Which one will you choose?

A boat with a plane on it, or a plane with a boat in the back.

Ship obviously, no one said I couldn’t have multiple in follow, hard to save a plane falling from the sky

The only winning move is not to play.

If a plane is falling you have a better chance surviving on a boat. At least boats have life jackets and random stuff that will float around after the boat sinks. As for a plane you can’t even jump out; and even if you did you’ll land on the hard ground.

boat...

if the plane goes down it's over, like 1/100 pilots could even land on water and if they can you've got some fart pillow to cling to

boats have things like lifeboats and liftvests to save you... I like how many things they have that include "life" in the name rather than "emergency"(emergency exit, emergency slide, etc).

A plane just tried this in Brazil. But sadly it hit land instead of water.

You can bailout from ships in lifeboats, which are equipped to provide life support for a few days, and even after you can figure something out, while you are pretty much screwed in a plane accident, even if you somehow manage to survive the inicial crash, they are significantly less equipped in terms of long term survival, especially when it comes to being in the middle of the largest body of water of the planet, so assuming this remains the case in this scenario, then ship it is.

….but Pacific Ocean is really really big. Plane takes maybe half a day to cross. Ship can take more than few days. Are you sure to take 50/50 over more than few days instead?

Most likely an orbital craft, tbh. I don't see why I would cross Pacific on either a plane or a ship. :SFDunno:
If a plane goes down in the ocean it's virtually guaranteed death.

If a ship goes down there is a much better chance of survival with lifeboats and whatnot.

This question is a no-brainer. Ship easily.

ship

we have time to go to the boat

at 11 km altitude not chance to survive, even with parachute, because too cold and you going to be asphyxied
