Amazon Gaming Prime - the Catch?
I just now came across this. An Amazon Prime subscription gets you a bunch of popular/AAA games for free apparently.

I wonder what the catch is though.

If it seems too good to be true then there has to be something stinky going on.

Anyone know about this or use it?

Subscription =/= Free
I claim the GOG games when they pop up. There are never any Steam games there though.

So basically like the Microsoft Gamepass?

Thank-you Cap'n Obvious.

But most folks need stuff and are already on Amazon Prime just to get said stuff sent without shipping fees.

sorry; edit: most working 'Murican folks already have a Prime account because it saves them time & money; so this is a "free" add-on for subscriptions?

Not as many good games as you think in comparringson to ms gamespass. And even ms games pass has its dry month.
But then again if you allready have prime you might aswell try it out.

Think about how stupid the average consumer is and then realise that half of them are even dumber.

Subscription "services" are part of the "you will own nothing and be happy" agenda. Paying for a "service" that used to be a "common courtesy" just reinforces my statement. Anyone who supports this kind of "economy" deserves what they get. Which in the end will be "nothing".

Amazon Prime subscription I use mostly to have stuff delivered w/o shipping fees & a few shows (although now they add ads so it appeals less for those.)

Besides Fallout76 (which I already purchased on Steam) there really aren't any games on Gaming Prime I'm interested in - but for kids hounding their parents for game XYZ I suppose Gaming Prime may be ok.

I just don't see Why Amazon would include anything value-added for their service when they could charge whatever amount extra.

Maybe to offset the new ads they shove down consumers throats for content?

Must be some $$$ catch. Businesses ain't in the habit of providing any courtesy to consumers. Bad for executives.

There is no catch. It's a powerful company paying a small fee to get into your life. It will probably break even anyway, and later it will profit greatly.

They also sell Japanese cosplay stuff. :brotherfist:

I assume it is just a subscription (= they are not giving you anything more than just temporary access to such content) and the catch is just that.

If you already pay Amazon Prime for shopping reasons (I don't know, in my area their service is so good that paying the subscription would be pointless, but maybe elsewhere is not the same? I have heard some people complaining, so I don't know) it could be considered a nice plus, but if you really like a game and that game is actually sold in a non scam ridded way I would just buy an actual copy of that game to keep it if I were you.
But on the other hand it is really hard lately to find games sold in ways that are not a scam...
its just a prime benefit
iirc you have to use their crappy launcher tho

In most cases you just need to spend more than 35 euro to get the free shipping.
I have used Amazon (for free) a lot for several years and I very rarely have to pay shipping fees.
Usually it is very easy to reach the requirements for the free shipping.

This. I wonder if most of the people that think Prime is saving them money on shipping would have had free shipping on all their orders anyway.
The catch is that you're funding Bezos' bid to take over the world and collapse the local mom n pop shop economy.
