How can Europe compete with USA in attracting international talents when wages are not competetive?
Wages for top jobs in USA are far better than in European countries so how can they stay competetive with USA and not lose out on brain drain?

Just basic supply and demand tbh.
I don't think you really want to know the answer.

The reason is that we give money to usa.
And in return they send products.

If Europe wanted to stop it they would as well have to stop trading with dollars.

For the reason that countries with very little trade is constantly dropping in trade value.

The outcome is that anyone in usa will scream in fear or has to become friend with China who will over time take over usa as it no longer has a friendly trading partner.

Instead of Europe giving cash to usa it will instead be usa who becomes the new slave of China.
Would it not be easier just to raise wages to be more comparable to top USA ones?

Wages becomes inflation. Many countries in Europe already has high wages but no value on the money
It's namely the taxes and living expenses, not wages, when it comes to high skill jobs. The US burden of paying for static expenses like the equivalent to social insurances out of your own pocket diminishes as your income grows, while it scales more linearly with your income in most of the EU. There's a middleground where there's no question about living and working in the EU being the most fruitful option, but as you start approaching 150k+ the profitability of the US capitalist system begins to net you more.
Let's raise wages. That will solve everything.... *rolls eyes*
engineering jobs in the UK are very competitive
Just have a massive world war and then at least half the people will vanish and more homes and goods will be on store shelves, it's worked in the past, typically Europe always has a war every 100 years to help stabilize the outta control population

I don't think the earth could sustain 20 billion people. That's like.......... 20,000 millions.
Europe needs too cut down and limit red tape that strangle businesses and free trade.

Sounds correct and $150k is like top 10% salary if not higher in USA.
For the 20k-80k bracket there's a lot of very good EU countries to live in where you can get tax breaks for 8-30k+ as a low income earner, practically free healthcare and subsidized housing allowing you to live in a semi-detached 4 room house for €500 a month. In the US you'll struggle to attain equivalent quality of life on the same amount, especially if you need active healthcare.

You can generalize it as the EU largely catering to the population as a whole, while the US is a capitalist system that favors the top and doesn't mandate big earners and corporations to subsidize society. Whether that's a good or bad thing is up to your personal interpretation.
80k is probably about top 25% wage

The brain drain is a thing, but do not overstate and overplay it. Some peeps immigrate, some emigrate, most just travel and come back to home at the end of the week.

There is an argument of having a better social environment/climate rather than a better pay (and if you adjust to the cost of living, may not be THAT better). And you must really, really like the US to go live there. There are indeed some euros that admire the States, but i assure you that the number of peeps that despises the States (for one reason or another) is ... superior. Those ones wont go emigrate there :p
us culture is kinda boring its same most everywhere europe you can see castles and find oddball languages like basque n stuff
