Yes that is true.
Now they go through several periods of undeath to make that more difficult.

I think Kojima is very hit or miss. I will give DS another chance at some point but for now i don't regard it highly. MGSV:TPP is definitely one of the best games ever tho, and most other of the entries in the series are pretty good too, but some like 4 and PW aren't that good imo, and i do not even rank 2 that highly, personally.
All of them
And the reason I trust none is because I've seen companies I thought were better, go down the same exact paths of the ones that turned out to be ♥♥♥♥. So there's not a company out there that I would trust not to do the same as well at some point. KoeiTecmo really botched the Dynasty Warriors series, and added micro transactions, even stopped translating the voices which is the best part. Who the ♥♥♥♥ wants to stop and read important battle information when they're in the middle of fighting someone? That stuff really needs to be dubbed. It's not an RPG.
Then they made Fatal Frame 5 which was so easy I kept checking during the middle of a playthrough if I could turn on hard mode. You can't. At least, not until you've already beaten it. I died once in the entire game, and that was an insta-death segment that I had no idea what the game wanted me to do.
Capcom has been a joke
Ubisoft has been crap for over a decade
Bethesda has been going downhill since Oblivion and Fallout 3
I was done with EA in the early 2010's
Rockstars online for GTA V was so broken by hackers as Rockstar devs did nothing to stop it that I won't waste money on another product of theirs again.
So, I trust no AAA studio.
I have a rule of never paying more than ~$5 for any EA or BioWare game going forward, and in most cases I just skip.
There are so many other devs and games players don't need to eat their crap sandwiches.
Sure, two of the classmates I had in special ed both went on to make video games. But I haven't spoken with them in years and I've only played games that one of them made. Do I trust him? No, if anything he outright stated the last time we spoke that since he is making games he doesn't want to play them anymore.
Which explains why the games he made were complete ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
