Why the hell is Bambi culturally referenced as a weakling?

I just finally decided to rewatch Disney's Bambi.

So, you know how edgy 1980's - 2000's people liked to treat Bambi like the quintessential weakling? Like, in the Sandlot them calling Bambi "that wimpy deer" and in the 2000's that "Godzilla vs Bambi" "animation"?

Well, I hereby think these people are idiots who are full of ♥♥♥♥. Bambi's a badass.

In the midquel, while he's still a fawn, he takes out several hunting dogs, each bigger than him, including kicking one of them off a cliff personally.

Then in the original movie, as an adult, he fights off an entire pack of large hunting dogs - I didn't actually count, but it must have been seven, at least - while they were dogpiling him. Not one at a time; *all at once*.

Then jumps off the top of a waterfall, *and survives*.

Look, if some people our there are going to refuse to acknowledge these feats, be my guest. But as far as I'm concerned, he's underrated hardcore. If Bambi ever manages to get the jump on a lone human hunter with no dogs or backup, said hunter is certifiably ♥♥♥♥♥♥.

I agree that Terry Gilliam must have been involved with this somehow. But it was the sixties, maybe the giant foot coming down was a meme back then.

Look, nobody remembers the story of that movie, and they certainly did it watch the midquel. They just remember he is a deer whose best friend is a rabbit, which both definitely fall into the category of cute animals instead of badass animals. And maybe his mom dying.

Hell, they might not even have ♥♥♥♥♥♥ to the climax at all after the cutesies that came before it.
