About $1750 is the max for a GPU personally, otherwise it's going from ridiculous territory to ludicrous.
If you have waited this long and don't have a 4090, you should just wait for the 5090 to be released and get a good working water cooled 4090.You went with a 4080 super, do you even game at 4k? Do you need the vram the 4090 offers? if you can wait just skip the 4090 and get a 5090.
Moores law stated the number of transistors on an integrated circuit would double every 2 years, Now they think we're moving faster than that.
Today RTX 4090, tomorrow RTX 5090, Day after RTX 6090.
That's if Nvidia even bothers to make new gaming cards when they can save the silicon space for more AI junk. One AI card can be sold for more than 20k when things are good. The mining "problem" will mean nothing to gamers soon.
BUY BOTH!! AND build a 2nd or 3rd PC!!!!! HAVE MORE AND BE HAPPY!
Or save your soul & resources, and don't make money, don't spend money, don't sin, don't even speak... like a Buddhist Monk. LMAO!!!
A RTX 4080 Super is more than enough to juice 1440p resolution at ultra high settings in games.
You won't notice much, if any, difference. Even if you are trying to target a very high refresh rate, not a worthwhile change.
The difference between 1080p to 1440p resolution is 75% more pixels.
The difference between 1080p to 4K resolution is 4 times the pixels and requires a lot more juice to power.
I wouldn't recommend using that 8K TV for PC gaming, unless you want to treat it more like a gaming console. PC monitors have sharp pixels, where as a TV monitor is different and blurs pixels together. This makes TV look nice from a distance, but up close will strain your eyes and attempt blurry with reading very small text.
If you want 4K resolution you would also want the eye candy to make it worthwhile, such as HDR, etc.
There's a major different between the resolution, but if you don't notice it, don't bother. Keep with your 1440p resolution and RTX 4080 super! You will save a ton of cash. If you really want to upgrade, I would recommend getting a very high-end 4K monitor first, before upgrading your graphics card. Just avoid all low-end / mid-range 4K or TVs, you will be better off with the 1440p resolution instead.
Ask yourself what you need the graphics card for anyways? Any games lagging on very high to max settings? Are you trying to push for Ray Tracing, a high-end Virtual Reality or another demanding technology? A human eye doesn't see in FPS, that's a myth, but it will notice FPS flickering and drops/spikes. That's where a G-SYNC monitor can help a lot or just figuring out certain game settings which make major performance drops for your graphics card. Your current card should otherwise handle it just fine.
