so at 5 old year you are big enough to learn alphabet
after they going to force you to learn more knowledge, even if some are irrelevant
also it is up to you to abandon school at your 16 old year
but seem society think 12 years is enough, but in reality it is longer, other option you work and learn nice skill
after highschool it impossible
as a result people were competing with quality as well as year numbers, eventually culminating in standard education for 6 years (age 6-12) before entering the workforce in some capacity or another. germany, the netherlands, and the scandanavian countries would leverage the years up, then the uk france would match them and spain would match at a subprime rate.
seeing this unfolding, and seeing it was a financial scam, a coalition of interests began advocating for more years. 8 years, 10 years, 12 years, 7 years 9 years, and mostly people didn't want to go for it. they wanted less education overall, not more. pushing years will only push out the costs of this little game, and threaten a real education system developing independent of the financial system. (up to this point education was a marker of financial success, as it was cost-prohibitive otherwise on a personal level.)
these forces wound up finding purchase in the US, who also didn't want to increase year numbers but was still a loosey-goosey coalition of political interests subject to outside manipulation. as it is today. so, lobbyists managed to push through a 12 year total and this became the standard due to the matching and leveraging other countries in the competitive market were undertaking.
the excessive amount of years was convenient as it allowed them to argue that the expense of education meant the pace needed to be drastically slowed down in order to match costs. the target figure was around 7-9 years per 12 undertaken, and the execution of this paradigm was variably blamed on the necessity of after-school work hours as well as the summer break for harvesting and farm labor. but, realistically, it was just being slowed down for financial leveraging reasons.
several waves of education reform have happened, and there is now such a technical gap between different educations and even neighboring counties in the same country. even opposite sides of the same city might have drastically different educational standards, one being designed to produce factory workers and one being a benefit of living in a wealthy neighborhood. while this is continually attacked resolved and changed, such that all schools are a little bit crappy now, for fairness' sake, the end result is a lot of wasted time and inuring developing adolescents to the concepts of slavery, drudgery, ignorance, and a disregard for pretty much anything that isn't in their immediate social sphere of influence.
so, in summary, what education?
Most people in OT shouldn't be trusted with cars or booze, and they're mostly all over 18.
People keep threatening to revoke both for me.
It is culture based and about maturity
In the past the period between 18 and 21 was meant to comprise the maturation process that previously took place between 12 and 15.
Some have argued that the intent is to stretch out childhood and infantilization as long as possible, in order to have a complicit and childlike populace. Rebellious, impetuous, but ignorant and predictable. Controllable, with the occasional release of steam or riot or 10-20 year revolution and consequent reactionaries.
Others have said that by lowering the age of maturation more conflict and chaos is generated, for exploitation by wiser societies with longer childhoods. 12 year old kings declaring war on 29 year old kings who have twice their armies and campaign experience for disrespecting their tunic at a party. Or a 16 year old king taking their economic kingdom to war with a military one ruled by a 13 year old. 19 year old diplomats believing themselves the advisors of the world, so well-educated they are. 30 year olds feeling wise simply for surviving.
Can either way truly be said to be better than the other, in totality?
Wow, I wonder who's behind such property tax increases. Seems an unusually harsh measure if the city is locally-owned.
^-- This.
It's also difficult to make very young parents go to school...
For those who may think it's too much:
For the U.S., 12 years is the minimum amount of time needed to give the minimum amount of education needed in order to prevent regular laborers and factory workers from becoming wrench-turning monkeys and dial-watchers with little, or no, labor capital value in the world marketplace. (ie: "The Wealth of Nations" - Adam Smith)
So, that's the absolute minimum amount of education that a person needs and should have. The minimum.
