NOT EVEN A DOLLAR!!!! JUST NINETY-NINE CENTS.
These days the cheesy gordita is like $3.99. Can you believe that? It's so good that sometimes I buy it, but then I remember the summer it sold for 300% less and get salty.
The old enchirito I really miss. Before it was brought back in 2003 I think it's previous incarnation came in a perfectly fitting aluminum tray, and it was stuffed full of beef, covered in enchilada sauce, a ton of melted cheese, and three black olives, which their salty and tart taste really added something to them. Ugh. I know they really need to cut back on expenses just like every other business... but there really comes a point in time where cutting back costs you business.
Only one of them involves me, mind you, but that's because I'm the dumb ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ who got his finger stuck in the lid of a pineapple can and had to get stitches. Pineapple pizza is great by the way, and I will not fight you on this as you will lose on the account that taste is preference and you're allowed to have one - no matter who tells you otherwise.
I'm done with them, they think they can treat their fans like this, well guess what Taco Bell, you will never defeat the human spirit. How stupid do you think we are, that we won't notice? I'm done with you.
All because the COO Mike Grams and Taco Bell executives think they know what is best "for the people".
I didn't realize Why they were streamlining/minimizing their menu (beyond saving their own bacon) until I started seeing the bigger picture.
Check out Taco Bell's new "Go Mobile" store idea:

What genius.
Dual Drive-Thrus:
Have you ever been in a dual drive-thru? It is a logistics nightmare for the order taker(s) and the customers. Keep in mind that Americans are the best, most considerate motorists and are very keen at navigating curved drive-thru lanes and merging with ease and expedience.
Bellhops/curbside service:
Really? You're going to have your generously paid, energetic, young workers run out to someone's car to deliver fast food the always amicable customer folks? At 3 AM? I'm sure there are plenty of Taco Bell franchise owners that have state-of-the-art security and CCTV. I haven't seen one outside - ever. Only cameras I ever saw were pointed at the cashiers and their registers.
Web Ordering:
Technology is great - when it works. Guaranteed 5 bars always on your cell phone? Maybe we should all pre-order our meals a couple hours in-advance and online so they have all your credit card/personal info. for convenience. That will be great because people know exactly what they want and precisely when.
All I keep coming back to is the Bottomline: Mike Grams/execs keeping shareholders/top brass happy (i.e. minimizing overhead/quality/products whilst maintaining profits/steep product pricing).
Boycotting Taco Bell ain't good enough. Petitions just collate all the losers together. Cardboard signs and pickets never did squat. Maybe I should make an effort for a daily 800# call to corporate Taco Bell in Irvine, CA. They're paying for the 800 line. Might as well make use of it.
Not really missing much IMHO. It's not "pizza" so much as "tex-mex" slathered on a flat tortilla and called pizza.
Makes the mouth water when you think of taking a bite of that meat, cheese, and lettuce on a corn chip. Mmmmm, juicy meat, tasty cheese, salty shell, nom nom.
