People wanting to play a character in feudal Japan probably wanted to play someone culturally relevant to Japan. As opposed to "here's some guy most of you never heard of, we chose him because he's black, now here's some hip hop."

We're talking about a franchise that's about space alien technology in medieval times, swords that can fire laser beams, machines that somehow allow to experience memories through DNA...

Ubisoft have already dumped a lot of resources and man hours into it and the game is mostly complete. the petition is not even a drop in the ocean and it won't be acknowledged.
