Get a room fan/filter .. makes a huge difference if you are in a dusty environment. I run a coal stove in the winter..

is there some advert about computer and dust going round...

why have you made dust a priority... when you can let dust build up for years
on most computers...

unless you live in a really dusty dusty place...

moisture would be more my concern...
as dust and water turn to mud which can
conduct electricity and cause problems..

I have dust problems if i breathe it in i start to suffocate

ok... your computer doesnt make or create dust..

fans blow air around

so if you live in a dust free or low dust environment
your computer will be better than fine no matter what case you get...

sound like a cheaper case
and a very good air filter/purifier would be a better option for your situation
DarkCrystalMethod 2024 年 7 月 7 日 下午 4:16
Brake pads usually have asbestos. Calling it antimony is pure cute though.

Sounds like you have a medical condition that requires expensive preventative measures. If you're even allowed out of the hospital(with built in air filtering, etc) then the cheapest thing would be to just move to a town where the air won't murder you just for breathing.
Your house might need to have its window's re-done and check the AC so that there is a very effective airflow path through the whole house.
Not sure what else I can say here... other than get well so that you don't have to go through all this extra nonsense.

I only know about angel dust and I embrace it.

Isn't this a topic for the Hardware discussion group?

keeping dust out of a case is not the type of case.

first if you really are in a dusty surrounding.. you may want to look at a passive cooled system.
dust is no issue if there are no moving parts.

if thats no option.. EVERY case has holes in it... and dust will find a way in.. 100% of the time..
what you can do to keep it out is create overpresure....

basicly you have fans (with filters before them) suck in air... at a greater volume... than you have fans that (without filters) blow air out..

(this is not just the number of fans.. some fans just displace more volume of air than others.. some can better overcome static like pushing or sucking air though a filter or radiator)

well if more air is pumped in that out.. where does that excess air go? it leaks out through all the holes a case always has..... no case is airtight...
this means any air with dust.. is blown out.. and cannot enter.

ofcourse once you turn off the pc.. than this effect is nullefied.. so keep it running 24/7 to keep this positive pressure active.

any pc that is turned off.. will have air inside it equal to that of the room around it.. and well like any shelf in your house.. will accumulate dust overtime...

if you have your fans set WRONG.. and have underdraw (like many idiots do.. like they have 3 fans on an aio blowing air out but only 1 or no fans sucking air in...

well than that negative pressure will mean air from outside with dust in it will actively be sucked in through the holes in the case and your system will accumulate dust even worse than if turned off..

if your system has no filters behind the fans that suck in the air.. ofcourse the same nergative dust forming effect happens..

then the airflows will be horrible and will self explode. just buy those dust filter sheets and then customize them in all fan places

which MERV filter should i use 8 or 12 or 13 or 9 or 10 theres so many

no

don't do that

case fans are built to cool your pc, they aren't meant to force air through a filter.

a MERV rating on a filter indicates how fine the mesh is. the higher the number the more your fans have to work to push air through it.

listen, if you can't handle a dusty environment you just need to clean your house, dont go covering your pc case in filters, you'll spend 100's in burnt out case fans.

a regular fan grill for 10 bucks placed on the intakes is enough. it doesn't have a merv rating but doesn't need to, it'll stop enough dust and particulates on its own.

dont buy a merv rated paper filter, you will burn out your fans and overheat your case.

you are to harsh...

like my post said.. you want to have your pc on all the time and you want overpressure..

having 200cm3 air sucked in.. and only 100cm3 air pushed out (2 fans in, 1 fan out for simplification)

will work fine.. there is no need to have more than 3 fans... for this effect to work.. and might even work with 2 fans.. if you pick one that pushed a greater volume for the one sucking air in.

yes you need a filter for those 1 or 2 fans sucking air in...

if it is a REALLY dustry surrounding you MIGHT want to create slighly more overpressure..
and perhaps have 2 fans more sucking air in than out... which means you would need 4. fans... 3 in, 1 out..

but if your basicly have the pc in a sawmill with dust everywhere.. than no filter will help... you will need a passive cooled system.

it does not matter if the entire case is full of dust.. if there are no moving parts.

Or get a laptop/notebook/chromebook and just buy a legit air purifier that sits next to you, running 24/7.

yes, but i was talking abotu not putting air purifier filters on your pc case. the fans will burn out. i wasnt talking about anything else

MERV rating is pretty serious the closer it gets to 17, and would really restrict air flow on pc fans.

exactly.

MERV 17 filters 99% allergen, i'd aim for something like that. and 100%

pc on one side, air purifier on the other. op dust problem solved.

Just get a normal case and clean the dust out once a year it takes a really long time for it to build up to a point it will cause performance hits

merv filters are overkil.. you do want normal filters on your pc fans that pull air in.. and plenty of cases that have build in airfulters you simply can pull out once halve a year... no tools needed.. wash of and stick back.. without having to touch the fans..
