Is firefox really better for privacy?
The last time I uninstalled firefox, I got a virus detection error that made me uneasy.
I'm thinking of switching browsers to firefox because chrome has been acting weird lately.

by default they enable studies, autocomplete, etc, they force 20 shortcuts to popular anti human privacy sites on homepage.

so they pretty much sell outs and idk how much u can trust em.

who does not use firefox? it is the only browser i have been using for like 20 years.. even on my phone I use firefox.

I know nobody personally that uses crome..you use firefox or (mostly old people) edge.

Firefox is better than chrome because you can make it less ♥♥♥♥♥♥, but its default settings aren't much better than any other big business browser. If you want something that actually respects your privacy, librewolf does a good job of disabling all the ♥♥♥♥ Firefox includes (both settings wise and by actually removing some bits of exceptionally egregious code)

I don't care about privacy, it's just more user friendly for me. It's apps are easier to put on and use.

Better than Chrome, sure, since it's not made by one of the largest ad companies (and this data collection companies) in the world. Installing Firefox shouldn't give you malware, so I would double check where you got it from. You can scan with VirusTotal to be sure.

There are more private browsers, like I think LibreWolf doesn't even send telemetry. If you're really into privacy, maybe check it out. I think it's Firefox based, but has a ton more privacy protection.

The best thing about Firefox as opposed to Chrome is that you can UNINSTALL FIREFOX!!!!

That's not sarcasm. You literally cannot completely remove Chrome. It's a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ terminal illness.

what i believe ,if i can phrase words better,i can deliver all the good news for each person.
it is like a matter of how to reconstruct words and sentences.
under that theory,i should try to find out your need with privacy and browser.and help you to spin the globe in your head to see the bright side.

it only requires a bit of brain power ,which i dont have now.
usually i go with the browser that isnt on local government shjt list,and dont need me to tinker around it much.and has fast response towards user`s need.

the things that i have come to believe,so sad.

I prefer firefox.

Chrome's advantage is in its development tools.
I still use the firefox mainly because it is what i am used to but Chrome's stuff is superior somewhat.
Development tools = working in the console log as an example.

Me. I use Librewolf instead 😂

Still based on FF though, just without all the tracking.

Yep. I saw a video of someone doing a man in the middle attack (they did it on themselves to see what kind of tracking was done) to check if Ubuntu spies on their users, and did a quick check with Firefox and LibreWolf as well. LibreWolf sent nothing at all.

I love and prefer Firefox; great add-ons, great setting and customization options, and a good interface.

Also, Adblockers; perfect for blocking ads on YouTube.

Yeah, and with Manifest V3 replacing Manifest V2 in Chrome, it also means Firefox will retain fully functional ad blocking capabilities! Chrome is limiting their capabilities.

It has optional telemetry as far as I'm aware, but it's disabled by default. But I have to admit I haven't used ubuntu much.

Yeah, I know. The video I posted goes through it, so if you're interested you can watch it from the beginning. If I understand things correctly, they basically inserted an SSL certificate into Ubuntu that would let them eavesdrop on otherwise encrypted communication. This means they can see everything Ubuntu sends back with its telemetry.
