Is firefox really better for privacy?
Is firefox really better for privacy?
The last time I uninstalled firefox, I got a virus detection error that made me uneasy.
I'm thinking of switching browsers to firefox because chrome has been acting weird lately.

No. Not with that Mozilla CEO giving herself millions as a salary. That money comes from somewhere's...selling out users data.
its the only browser i have used and it seems i made a good choice to not go to chrome.

in the eu at least there are laws about collecting information (which many corporations.. mostly usa ones are all the time sued for not properly complying) and recent every 3 months for every freaking app and website you get a popup with a washlist of things you must one by one set the slider to NO.. (or press the quick and easy yes to settings) as basicly they can no longer collect info for adds.. unless asked permission and have to renew that permission every 3 months by eu law now)
***oh I still think it's a good law.. we just need to add a thing about giving a single button or option to "I deny all data collection" instead of having to go to this harasment of sliders (some pages do have an easy "I deny all data collection" button in these popups.. but many especially american run pages do not

basicly if you truelly want to be private you likely would have to run trough a virtual machine.. but even that would not stop your provider from spying.. (and your ip being logged at various pages for datacollection anyway)... even with a variable ip.. as is standard in my country.. generally it only cycles trough a range.. or between a limited number of them so it still can be logged.. so to solve that you need a vpn.. ofcourse whats keeping that vpn from spying on what you are visiting?? so you are basicly replacing the trust in your provider (who my law is not allowed to collect data.. and only with a order by a judge be used by national security (not the wide spying usa does on it's people).. to an commecial vpn entity
which may be worse...
but well at least the pages you visit won't log your ip.. so there is that..
Virtrual Machines and VPNs are lies. They aren't even tracking you with your machine anymore. They don't have to. Either you're registered on the site already or they can use data to figure out who you really are based on many other things or they just lump you in and use the data in an aggregate style.

There is 0 ways to be private on the internet. Even if you were to make a complete false persona and have a separate computer for that persona, eventually something will tie you to something as a relational data point. Usually some Google site or your phone or a social media.

And if you avoid those three things, a lot of sites simply won't let you even make an account. "But I don't make an account." Yea, you're here posting. You make accounts.

I fully agree that data is collected even without ever creating an account..
-they detict the hardware (and software) to ID you and tie ever purchase done, every website made with that unique fingerprint.
(even a VPN will not hide that)

your probably also right that they can detect behavior even if you with that brand new pc never log in on ANY site not even check your email once... the pages you visit and the times you do it.. paired with timings and analyse of what and where you type will likely make some AI able to ID you quite fast.

so basicly what you need is for every individual actual you do online a new computer with new hardware on a new unique IP.
aka you not just have to run from a virtual machine you will have to create a program that randomly create one with different settings each time you want to acces the web.. + a vpn layer (which will still allow them to collect data.. but as all that data than get collected trough the same vpn server... that data is useless..

still even with all that the moment you log in once.. check your email.. make a post... you likely gave aaway your ID to the bots again... so for the rest of that session you have been id's.. and data is collected.

I made it pretty sure my real life persona and online persona are not tied.. I not have a linkedin or any of that..
but advertisers not need that.. they not have to know who you are... they just want to make a profile...

i mean people get advertisement for diapers before they even know they are pregnant.. as the ai detected changes in their behavior..
Scary stuff..

yeah the web was funnier when it was new. aka before 2005.. but ai has lifted data collection to a whole new level... and legislation always is a decade behind...

Steam is a web browser . It doesn't really matter which browser you pick because steam will sell any data you manage to protect.
AVG secure browser

IDK I change them often, they get stupid

And you pay for a VPN?
VPN has never been a security or privacy product.

duckduckgo relies on bing, so I don't know why anyone would use this placebo search engine.

I have no idea what those browsers are, but I won't be supprised if they are similar to duckduckgo.

yeah like 1-2% better at best.

google's browser integrated data gathering is more efficient, so it runs faster.

Better than Chrome, sure, since it's not made by one of the largest ad companies (and this data collection companies) in the world. Installing Firefox shouldn't give you malware, so I would double check where you got it from. You can scan with VirusTotal to be sure.

There are more private browsers, like I think LibreWolf doesn't even send telemetry. If you're really into privacy, maybe check it out. I think it's Firefox based, but has a ton more privacy protection.
The best thing about Firefox as opposed to Chrome is that you can UNINSTALL FIREFOX!!!!

That's not sarcasm. You literally cannot completely remove Chrome. It's a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ terminal illness.
I tried chrome out once didn't like it so i uninstalled it shut my pc off after it was done. Turned my pc back on and there it was installed again just like a virus. Never used it again after it forced me to reinstall windows.

Been using firefox since even on my phone. Wish they bring back netscape navigator that's been fully updated.
Here is an older copy-paste ::

Why Firefox? I used to use it long ago but I think it became slow at JS? Used Opera for a while and finally switched to Chrome. I had some minor annoyances with it so I am actually using Brave now, but that's still Chrome I guess.

Mozilla and their products do use a very different engine than all these Google-infested browsers, forced-ads crap and stealing and gathering your privacy data!

You can even use Firefox and its Developer Edition + uBlock Origin by Raymond Hill on your Smartphone devices... for ever ads-free !!

No need to use any bloated, influenced and forced "Apps".. a reason why you should also leave Apple BS ..

:cwat:

Google Chrome[en.wikipedia.org] and Opera[en.wikipedia.org], so other browsers from this "family" for example Edge[en.wikipedia.org] do use the "Blink[en.wikipedia.org]"-Engine, which forces ads on your machines and devices and steal your informations..

The iOS editions of mentioned browsers as well as Safari[en.wikipedia.org] do use the "WebKit[en.wikipedia.org]"-Engine which does the same, stealing info and forcing ads and apps.. especially their "Apps"..

Steam uses the CEF[en.wikipedia.org] (Chromium Embedded Framework), it is never "safe" to use Steam's integrated "Browser" .. you are completely out of control there ..

Firefox[en.wikipedia.org] uses the "Quantum[en.wikipedia.org]"-Engine, made for privacy and security .. a reason why the "TOR"-Browser is built as a Firefox-Fork..

I have used Mozilla Firefox for minimum 2 decades, only Firefox, and switched over to Firefox Developer Edition a couple of years ago, for even more performance, speed and possibilities.. for privacy & security and other features and editings..

"Firefox + uBlock Origin" is a must-have on your PCs, Laptops and Smartphones .. !!

!! NOTHING ELSE !!

So never use an app like the YouTube App.. use Firefox.. never be logged in to Youtube or any Alphabet/Meta accounts, and reconsider to stay away from any KDE software as WebKit was a KDE-fork..

Mozilla ever been at war, as Alphabet and Meta services try to block Mozilla products, as Mozilla does NOT force any ads on you . . . YouTube for example is hardly failing to block Mozilla customers from watching YT ads-free, FOR EVER . . . !!

me no i recommend that package to newbs because mullvad is a halfway to tor with a bulit in vpn. i use proxies and router security, some people pay for music. those people might think another $10 app dont make no diff in their wallet. and i thought mullvad browser/vpn is an adorable 10 dollar package. theres your browser for life. tor too slow. i reformat my hard drive every few days and dont even remember to turn off telemetry data or updtae windows firewall.

no the vpn wont protect you from the fbi or your isp.
