guys.... I've kind of joined camp "dont give steam more money" because I'm upset with valve....

but then I've been looking at arma for 3 years now and its 90 percent off.... help. I feel weak.

To me it always seems that people somehow need an "enemy" to fight against, the "us vs them" and the "make a mountain out of an ant hill" mentality.

Heaven forbid people just buy and purchase the stuff they like wherever they want without resorting to pointless exaggerated words like "patriotism". Or as happens in other threads, calling things they don't like "scams", "fraud" and "anti-consumer".

Valve is one of the most ethically moral companies on earth... not one of you people would actually hold a candle to this company.

Yet you complain.

What do you think the chances are that those who complain are ignorant? Suburban kids whining about corporate greed and chem trails.

The customer acquisition cost of a company that sells on Steam is actually 99% less than one that sells off their OWN website. (And they complain too, because they are just like you.)

This is the reason you even have choices in gaming today. Without Steam, you would have 2499 out of every 2500 games... vanish or get duped and sold as a knockoff.

If you people think Amazon or Apple or Microsoft or any other company on this entire planet could pull off what Valve has... it just means you are ignorant... they couldn't do 2% of what Valve has one.

This is a well oiled private company that has done the impossible at a time when it was even possible... there will NEVER be anything like it again. This is the Windows 10 of OS's, and once its gone you people will get to pick 2 or 3 games per lifetime.

You people should be getting Valve tramp stamps and saving up every penny you have for the hope it ever goes public.

I hope you all learned a valuable lesson. You never know what you have until it's gone -aka

Yeah, when I was looking at it, was thinking of grabbing the game with all the DLC and everything too, and do share similar sentiments. But Arma 3 goes on sale fairly often and even on Steam, I think the DLC has been cheaper. I was thinking of just grabbing the base game for now, see how it is and then maybe grab the DLC in a later sale if it seems worthwhile.

Edit: Also, Arma has had a few bundles on Humble over the years. Wouldn't be surprised if another bundle with a bunch of DLC popped up again in the future there.

sounds like theres a solid suggestion brewing... buy the base game... try it... see if the dlc is even needed... buy additional dlc, if it is, when they are on bigger sales.

This actually hurts steam. solid.

yes, but this is def a good multiplayer game and the very people who brought the game to my attention (drewski and this other guy) have a server they regularly do games on. if I play it, ill want to play in their server... which will require a purchased copy.

Valve sees no money from keys sold outside of Steam. The only "profit" they have from it is that it brings you into Steams ecosystem, that's all.
