Firstly, "the Web of Fear" is amazing. Love the Yeti's, the London Underground with The Doctor and meeting/interactions with Lethbridge-Stewart and how the story is structured as a action horror is purely gorgeous.

There's a trope about the silent angel statues things to be the most terrifying of them all of the encountered adversaries of the Doctor. I disagree. I'd say the "who tuurn off the light" black goo far more insidious and destructive. Sadly, the X-Files had the idea first, and sadly², it's just ... germaphobia pushed to 11. Yeah, that's kinda just "bacterias on every surface" : bouh, that's just realistic. The "light repels them" is what makes it anxiogenic.
