That NPC trend was more about power than it is people actually wanting to date a language model based disguised as a person.

I think there is a certain novelty to all of it too. That NPC trend on tiktok went away as quickly as it came. Likewise, I no longer hear about stories of some poor sod dating an AI girlfriend. People got bored and moved on to the latest thing.
