It became the agreed upon "neutral" country for the most wicked greedy people on earth.
So it's a safe place everyone has guns.
As someone who works in Switzerland a lot and calls it my second home by now.
I can tell you that the answer is pretty simple!
" Copying " or learning from Switzerland and applying their way, would mean for other governments to give up a very big chunk of their power into the hands of their population!
They would not only have to accept DIRECT democracy as in direct referendums for relevant topics, but also allow citizens to keep firearms at home, act as a neutral government making neutral geo-politics and massively lowering the taxes and mandatory " taxes ".
But a country like lets say Germany, won't leave EU and NATO in order to " de-centralize ", they also won't implement a direct democracy with direct referendi, nor will they allow people easy access to firearms and lower the taxes, because all of this would mean they lose a big chunk of power and would have to actually do what the people want.
These are the only reasons why other countries won't " copy " Switzerland. They can't do that without giving up power and also pi**ing some influential people off.
I wouldn't say that the reason Switzerland is safe is because of the guns, though. But it does at least prove that the presence of guns is not an inherent cause of gun violence.
And most people have guns.
Meaning people having guns is not inherently a bad thing as people can live in peace and have guns.
I find it humorous how europeans often claim America has issues because people have guns. So it is funny.
I suppose I should have worded that a bit differently though.
So it's a safe place and everyone has guns. or So it's a safe place in spite of everyone having guns.
Or something like that.
Switzerland is not a " tax heaven ". Especially since depending of the " canton " (state/municipality), Switzerland has quite differeing taxes.
Switzerland is just not a socialist utopia as you would wish it to be my communist friend.
The U.S.A. lets its citizens keep their guns at home though.
