He wore winter clothes in the summer so when he got hot he'd always go to the thermostat and turn the AC temperature down (for the whole house) to cool himself off.
Temperatures in the 60's might not sound so bad, but when it's summertime and you're dressed accordingly, and if you sit still a while to read, do homework, or do anything on the computer, you realize it's uncomfortably cold.
That is nothing really.
Put on the dehumidifier.
At 100% humidity you can't evaporate sweat to cool off.
I get high humidity days here. 27C put on the dehumidifier and it goes up to 30C inside but it feels cooler since I can evaporate sweat.
One other factor. Computer boards are made from organic materials that absorb moisture. Most board failures over time come from the boards swelling from humidity.
Keeping it dry is better for your computer in the long term.
Things that make you go "hmm".
because skimping on AC is foolish because you are just shaving productive hours off your life.
Do the actual calculations and show how much it will really cost them.
If this isn't setting off a 4-alarm fire in you to start making your own money and work on a plan to do better then...
His comment nails the issue.
Bro don't tell me this
But it's a refuge.
Get one of your electric bills and then start doing the math to see how much the ac to use per day costs. I highly doubt it's 20 dollars a day. Then show him and have a talk with him maybe you can convince him differently if he sees the daily cost is not what he thought. Won't hurt to try.
People get what they seek.
