What is your opinion of the Boomers in America?

They did quite well for themselves. Brought us some amazing films and arguably music that changed the world.

They also did a bunch of nasty ♥♥♥♥ that is still playing out.

The generations before them weren't all that different, just like the people who come after you won't have much good to say about you when you're old.

If you want to live in a better world, maybe stop looking for scapegoats to victimize?

One of the better generations, they polished the ideals of freedom and self identity. They also innovated more than any other generation in history.

I'm an American. There's no such thing as a Baby Boomer.

What happened was that every decade after the 1950s, the media and ad agencies kept trying to come up with names for young adults. In the 1960s, people under 30 were called the Now Generation. In the 1970s, they were called the Me Generation. In the 1980s, they were called Boomers. Then people in the 1990s just decided to lump everyone born between 1946 and 1963 as a Boomer, even though the kids born after 1960 grew up in a completely different world than the ones who were born in 1946 and had different values. So now this label has become this vague catch-all term to refer to several decades of young people.

The reason why that name stuck is because of George Carlin's idiotic rant about them, and because the media just ran with that label, in the same way that media keeps running with the GenX/Millennial/GenZ labels.

Well you shouldn't blame a generation for the actions of the few most greedy people in the world.

It is like blaming a race of people for a few serial killers or something.

That said.. America is just catching down to China level due to the current greedy people.

When corporations became people we sold out completely and started going full speed toward the wall.

Now in the land of the free where once people would dream "I can grow up to be anything!" to "we need to cut back since we expect too much".

Tough for an economy to grow when people don't have money to spend. The road to slavery.

I love when stupid people respond to only one half of your post and then make a snide crack. Nobody was called a "Boomer" until the 1980s. It was a term made up by the mainstream media, just as one guy (Tom Brokaw) made up the name, Greatest Generation, and a writer made up the name Generation X. These are labels that don't mean anything, and don't reflect the actual generations they're trying to pigeonhole. They're so imprecise that they keep shifting repeatedly from year to year.

I'm actually old enough to remember when that name came up out of the blue. It happened when a show called Thirtysomething came out in 1987. People said, "These 30 year olds in the 1980s, what do we call them?" and people said, "Let's just call them Boomers," because they were part of the Baby Boom of 1946," when thirty somethings had been born after that boom.

But whatever. You keep being a good little sheep believing in media-created fictions about the past and living in a vacuum.
