all of the game that came out based on the show had it`s licence expired a long time ago , I don't remember seeing any of these games being praised or talked about very much so I assume that no game publisher will consider spending the money and time to renew the license for those games.

even if they did a reboot of the show , I'd expect them to make new games instead of bringing the old one back.

(according to google , disney is said to currently own the copyright on this character currently)

It won't be long before they reboot Buffy again.

they are tied up with the eternal darkness license.

i know how strange that sounds, and that's a big part of why the project hasn't gone anywhere since the decision was made to tie them together in 2006 or so.

afaik alone in the dark was supposed to be a major media franchise, and the silent hill movies are what the scripts got recycled into. pyramidhead was supposed to be a rogue yith, and the movie was supposed to be a pilot for the wider aitd world.

buffy and alex royvas were going to team up eventually, and the funding for that has been secured and tied to the license itself for the last 20 years.

one of the main reasons whedon was tapped for the Avengers and piloting the MCU was due to contractual obligations from this deal falling apart, the AITD/buffy/once upon a time/'american horror story' unified world sort of being one of the other nascent megafranchises in the works alongside the MCU. and when MCU became a cash cow those other contracts sort of lost immediate value.

the money's still there and the licenses are still packaged for this. but disney's got the resources to decouple them and do whatever they want with the franchises.

given how long it's taken them to get acolyte together though i wouldn't really expect it that soon.

I doubt it. Current culture can't stand yet another overpowered boss girl show. The Leftards poisoned the well with their badly written, identity politics focused, boss girl trash shows.

Would be cool with some updated SFX
but I don't think I'd be able to watch it unless they made it something completely new, I'd just get annoyed at how the characters were all wrong

Nah. Well written girl bosses are great. Poorly written ones are bad. Same as with boy bosses.
