First of all it was said: love your neighbor as yourself. This means that you must love yourself.

Second: Matthew 10:34-35 “Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. And a person’s enemies will be those of his own household. Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me, and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. And whoever does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me. Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.

This does not literally mean that you have to love God more than your family, but there is a possibility that your family will hate you for your beliefs.

If you are being serious...

It's not about loving Jesus, but rather it says to love God with all thy heart, soul and mind.

Then love your neighbour as yourself. Which is a form of empathy and understanding.

A person who lacks empathy towards others, should not loved unconditionally and without question, they will assume that to be a weakness and exploit you for it. I do not love a narcissistic individual.

"The fool makes his own rules, scoffs at rebuke, and disregards the harm his actions may cause."

They will seek only self-worship and control. Which leads into false idols and worshipping a false god.

To be fair, it suggests:
- Don't ever yield to them
- Not to waste your time and effort on them
- Still live in peace

I do struggle to avoid wasting time/effort on them, which actually can feed into their narcissistic supply. They love the attention, positive or negative. They would merely self-destruct without it.

that's regular jesus stuff; you're supposed to be god's conenction to humanity that ... you know ... has aspects god would find recognizable. relatable, even.

I'm talking about some of the more esoteric implications of the messages they've been relaying, and their immediate hostility towards any inquiry regarding them as if reflexive.

are these simply the murmurings of a human being stressed to their limit, the light of god shining through the holes as if the sun through a magnifying glass upon us poor ants?

hmm so logically you must love everyone else as yourself

but dont we all sort of demote ourselves subconciously when compared to God

if so then we must love God wholeheartedly and a bit more than ourselves or our neighbors
