Can someone please explain why Activision INSISTS on an annual COD?
As a fan of the og COD games, I look at the new ones not with excitement, but embarrassment. Who keeps asking for 70 dollar games ANNUALLY that change basically nothing. The only thing that's changed is the quality of the anti-cheat, but not in a good way. Other annual releases like Madden I can get behind, but this is just lazy.

Yes. Money.

Because Call of Duty has it's campaigns. It's already a big game, right? You keep adding to it, it'll eat a whole drive.

It also brings players back every year. If you just updated the game, then less people would return to check it out. If you market it as a whole new game, then it'll drag people back in.

Because people keep buying it. If it sales in nearly unchanged form, why take risk and modify formula.

But sadly Madden has passed since two years ago afaik, so what new dialogue are you getting behind?

Call of Duty? More like Battlefield.

What I remember and see as Call of Duty is gone, no longer present.. Instead, we've got the Batttlefield and battle royale kinda game together, called Call of Duty despite being a completely different game.
That's what's actually embarrassing, not the price tag.. Although it's plain obvious that it's set higher than it should be. We don't have to talk about that.

Ehh.. What?
The game does require ~300 GB of a free space?

People are willing to pay for the latest title be it COD, be it Fifa etc and companies are willing to spend money making such games.

We steam users have been waiting 20+ years for half-life 3 and it's still not coming. In fairness, valve did make a new half-life game some years ago but you needed expensive virtual reality equipment to be able to play it. Making it out of reach of many users including myself.

They are a publicly traded company and thus have a fiduciary duty to the stockholders to make money. The customers (gamers) are the ones who refuse to stop buying ♥♥♥♥ yearly games.

Activision still exists?

Because they don´t yet dare to ask you a month sub to play the game you paid full price for.

Don't see why they'd change it. People are still buying it

they make hjeir money on the stock market using investor money, then release a game as a waste byproduct. then they sell the waste to consumers to recycle it.

if they don't make the waste they can't make the money.
