Making a shark game (looking for ideas)

Out of boredom one day, a friend and I started making a retro 80s style 8-bit game. It's similar to jaws, inspired by the short comings of it, but just a personal home brew project for fun, in spare time. He's been working on a program and ideas for the hud so we haven't done much yet, until that's done.
Diving, and using subs, speed boats were ideas.

Some other ideas we had :
We have made little towns where you can buy upgrades for better weapons and boats. Take bounties to explore ship wrecks and hunt alligators, sharks & creatures.

blood counter, in certain areas. Could work by navigating through narrow areas with sharp coral which adds a blood splotch on the HUD and too many will cause a shark frenzy or megladon come out.
Underwater, crumbling cities, ship wrecks, to hunt ocean creatures, gather treasure, repair boat at shop. Buy new ones. Find out what the locals are saying. Build suspense for main plot.
Inspired by shark films, so could have shark cage in backdrop or part of a mission. And a shark or orca or giant squid hunting us.

Audio: sounds of scuba breathing, waves, and such. Trying to find a friend who can make some tunes in it.

Ya I know of the jaws game, it was just uninspired and little to it. Trying to build on that. Literally there was just jellyfish, manta ray, baby jaws and jaws. And all of them you could encounter in your first 2 minutes of play.

I have played a few throughout the years, they all tend to be a rampaging shark eating a ton of stuff in the way, that get boring rather fast.

Please add terrifying fish. I wanna be able to travel just a little bit too deep and there's a giant squid the size of a football field veiled by the dark waiting for me to swim too close.

I have considered a megaladon as a sort of hidden boss. Already have some sprites for sword fish, octopus (maybe enlarge as a boss), and a deep sea looking purple moray eel

I'll stick with tunes that make sense. There always seems to be responses from 8 year olds, who post this weird ♥♥♥♥, thinking they are funny.
