Sure, there was Cartagho, there was Gengis Khan, there was that Italian City-State the French culled to inspire fear and obedience to other city-states around. But that's exceptions. During WW2, civilians were participating in the war effort by manning factories - AND there was a narrative about a push to "crush the ennemy's spiit, inflict misery on the population in order for the population to "have enought" and rebel agaaint the government that is our ennemy".
Remarquably, killing civilians usually only put foam to the mouth of defenders, the sole exception where civiies killings brought the end of war being Hiroshima/nagasaki, and that's arguably because of the scale and novelty of the weapon.

Next, IDF is establishing "kill zones", arbitrarily designating a plot of land, with no warnings, no signalisation. So yes, they are killing whatever they effing see.

Then, destroying empty buildings with manual explosives, when the population had fled, has no use, and they are just transforming Gaza into a parking lot-like place RN. Destroying Mosques OR residences serves no purpose in the war, except ... more misery to the population.
