I thought we like stats and such? Did that suddenly change?
No fault came into play because Cali had so many "swinger parties" and regan was like, no fault allowed time
Or so I've heard
Would be a weird coincidence.
The funny thing is, there's nothing supporting that women who are initiating the divorce are doing so to marry up or whatever.
A lot of women who initiate the divorce are able to financially support themselves. This also correlates with women having access to more job opportunities and such.
This leads to the belief that, in the past women didn't initiate divorce because they were financially dependent on their husband. Which is a great control tool for the husband.
Despite all of this though, the divorce rate is still lower than it has been since the 70s.
Which further backup the previous theory since it was right before the 70s that many more opportunities for women opened up in the job market. Helping make them financially independent. Meaning they were no longer forced to stay in a situation that made them unhappy.
Rosenfeld from Stanford University discovered that women started almost 69% of all divorces among about 2,000 surveyed couples. However, in contrast, in unmarried relationships, there wasn't a significant difference in whether women or men chose to end the relationship.
I wonder why this is? Care to enlighten all of us?
In fact, you responded to it. Guess you didn't read it.
did you not read it? not even the key takeaways?
