The only other film's that are out this weekend was The Garfield Movie and Bad Boys: Ride or Die and I read that The Garfield Movie is bad, so they most of stayed home or went to see Bad Boys: Ride or Die
I'm pretty sure they had some biker girls and short haired main characters in videoclips and movies back than.
wtf
the only thing I could think, is Mel Gibson refused to shave his face for the role or said he was too old for the role
A Mad Max IP feature... barely beat out box against a movie about a cartoon cat on the US Memorial Day Weekend.

The majority of fans boycotted it for that reason.
The movie has flopped over the weekend.
Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes’ climbs towards giant global box office milestone.
The movie is set to gross twice its reported production budget in a matter of days.
This is another flop similar to Ghostbusters 2016 and surprise surprise Hemsworth was in that one too.
Tom Hardy would have sold Mad Max 2 alone.
Gibson is acting in a lot of action movies nowadays thanks to folks at Amazon.
Imagine if they had Tom Hardy and Mel Gibson in the same movie.
The tickets would have sold like hotcakes.
They could have made another mad max movie, instead it took them 9 years to make this. It’s not a side movie, it’s just another girl boss movie that has nothing to do with max.
They simply took too long. Maybe if it was made 2 years after fury road, but this is all we get in this girl boss climate. Hollywood has done the girl boss trope so much that it’s so tiring and I’m not going to pay a cent or give it a minute of my time unless it’s free on tubi
HEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHE
I hear it's a standard kind of righteous vengeance sort of movie and isn't bad.
But... My problem is that nobody asked for Furiouso's story and all I can think of is that the reason the story was chosen was to pander to certain audiences. And, it's a Mad Max movie... with no Mad Max.
I'd have been happier if they just started a whole story from scratch, just in the same MM Universe. No attempt to draw on other characters, no nostalgia, just a "new story" bit with more 'splosions and cars and cars 'sploding.
But, well, at least it ranked above "The Garfield Movie." It may have a ways to go to exceed "Beer Fest" or "Paul Blart - Mall Cop" though...
Men aren't really interested in s Mad Max film that doesn't have Max in it and women don't watch action films with the exception of a select few.
Women do turn up when there's a male leader they like though, Aquaman, The Beekeeper, etc.
