But my suspension of disbelief has its limits.
It doesn't matter. The Producers and the studio-notes will have pushed the title to push the messaging, trying to tick all the boxes so that "it's impossible to fail" based on "The Algorithm."
At least, that's what I see from the promos.
And, to be fair, you should know that I thought "Mad Max:Fury Road" was heckin' stupid. Sure, it had 'splosions an' stuffs. But, the story was bad and the attempts at building some deeper setting were just... dumb. So, if he does the same kind of thing, I'm not going to be impressed. Add in the "The Algorithm," as it appears it's going to, and I'll be doubly unimpressed.
I will let other people watch it, and if I hear that it turned out good then, I will give it a watch. I'll let other people be the guinea pigs
For example, if you watch Ghostbusters with Melissa McCarthy, and for that 90 minutes you are able to push any memory of the original films out of your mind, as though they never existed, like a holocaust denier, then you are able to watch the film reboots and appreciate the good qualities they have. In the case of Ghostbusters there are no good qualities but that is besides the point.
Spoilerz warnings!
A dominating and abusive Male Oligarchy controls Breeder Females to produce an army of highly aggressive sickly Anemic Male Drones to keep others under their control. They are the dominant powers in their Breeding Pits and are the only males in their controlling dynasties that are allowed to breed. Their offspring, the Anemic Male Drones, must have transfusions of Sacred Bodily Fluids from healthy Milked Males in order to be sustained.
Helped by Strong Woman, the Breeder Females escape. An unfortunate incident introduces them to one of the Milked Male slaves that was being milked by an Anemic Male Drone for his Sacred Bodily Fluids. Strong Woman's intelligence forces a compromise with this Sus Milked Male so that they can both escape the Boomer Male Oligarchs, who want the Breeder Females returned.
It turns out that Strong Woman believes that their salvation lies within a very fertile paradise sort of land she remembers from her childhood that lies on the other side of the vast and dangerous "Desert of More Aggressive Males." It is also revealed that she is a descendant of a Witch from that fertile land, which is actually a Lesbian Commune. (I don't remember if it's stated who Strong Woman's father was, so either it was artificial insemination or he was a male slave of the Lesbian Commune being milked for his Precious Bodily Fluids, too.)
Sus Milked Male and Strong Woman agree, for some idiotic reason, to leave the relatively safe, for women, Lesbian Commune and return to the Boomer Oligarchy Enclave, braving all the life-threatening dangers from Aggressive Males and the army of Boomer Male Oligarch-led Anemic Male Drones who Milk slave Males in order to survive. (Why do they return? Because they are stoopid and movie has to happen.) Along the way they kill many of the sickly Anemic Male Drones and Boomer Male Oligarchs using Cheatengine. )
But, because everyone in this movie is hecking brilliant, almost all of the helpless Breeder Women are killed during the return trip because they did not stay at the Lesbian Commune. If they had stayed at Lesbian Commune then they would be fine, happy, and safe, and would not have been killed by Aggressive Males or Anemic Male Drones that have Milked Male slaves.
The duo of Sus Milked Male and Strong Woman are finally victorious and kill the Boomer Male Oligarch.
In the final moment, they release the life-sustaining fluid and it splatters and splashes all over the men, women, and children of the former Boomer Male Oligarch's Breeding Pit.
And, that's the movie. To borrow a now infamous phrase -"You may not have seen that, but your brain did."
Interesting interpretation lol. Not entirely inaccurate. Personally the message I got from that movie was that good men should try and help.
In the final scene when he is disappearing in the crowd and he just exchanges a look with the female character. It was like they were never more than strangers passing in a crowd.
Max was also being exploited at the start of the film and he had several opportunities to say f-this and get out but he chose to stay and help even at the expense of getting his car back.
He did not get anything from it just did the right thing.
