What's the deal with the "Bear vs Man" argument?
I mean, I've seen the arguments on FB and Reddit but I feel like, as many other people point out, that without much context, it's easy for people to get upset and confuse other people's arguments as somehow defending bad behavior. Feels like the question and video was initially presented as a thought experiment and to see how people would react, and it blew up because everyone already had something to say about that.

But no one learned anything new and the question, if meant to be funny, was treated as anything but. And the only thing it did accomplish is getting people to think and believe whatever they already thought. Basically, confirmation bias. To make matters worse, some people used it as somehow a marker of other people's character and personality. As if somehow the answer to the question can tell you ANYTHING about a person's moral compass.

Heck, I'd love it if this meme came out of some trollcentral imgboard.

I'm wiling to consider the possibility that that's exactly where it came out from. I mean, hell, even on here on OT, people have asked some silly questions and then acted surprised that the topic got shut down because people derailed it or started getting personal with personal attacks.

I.... think I need context for this.

There isn't any. That was the problem. It's a thought experiment. It only basically asked a woman whether she'd rather deal with a bear or a man, with no further context.

Okay... But about what?

Exactly.

The "u mad bro?" taunt.

:)
I prefer the Woman and Bear meme:

They look so cute and cuddly, but the slightest thing can turn this beautiful creature into something so dangerous and violent that the toughest of men could be killed or maimed for life.

Here, you can see it cuddling a Bear.
I worked with a guy whose mother literally had that choice. Walking in the woods with her male friend. They encountered a bear. Man ran away. The bear killed and partially ate her.

The answer to "Bear or Man" is clear, to anyone with at least a room temp IQ.
I think one guy on twitter said it best. The same way that traits of masculinity are glorified by Andrew Tate, even if they are ultimately harmful, and are turned into status symbols, the same can be said for any woman that would say she would feel safer with a bear.

It's not because she would actually feel safer with a bear, it's just a way to gain status over men and attention, it is all based on trying to uplift their social status through a statement that shows the traits of femininity such as being vulnerable. It's the same reason some people will find any excuse to paint themselves as the victim, because deep down they are addicted to being a victim. Not because they are addicted to horrible things happening to them, but because they are addicted to validation, and that affectionate attention from others feeling bad for them. It's all mind games.
A pik-a-nik basket is a pik-a-nik basket. Who cares who's carrying it?

The biggest paradox of all this feminist :DSTpoop: is that they present themselves both as empowered and as victims at the same time. To sum up this whole meme, the repetitive narrative is basically "Men are bad, mmkay?"
tbh I would choose the bear over a man too

What kind of bear is it, anyway? Black bears can be bros, polar bears less so.

its never mentioned.. but since majority of bears arent a threat its indeed a safer choice given that the average human has a higher threat level
How would you have felt if you hadn't eaten breakfast?
It just proves people are bad at risk assessment and statistics.

Or rather, it proves women in general like victimizing themselves and repeating the overused old narrative that "Men are bad.".
