The act itself is odd and can imply this or that, but is ultimately not very interesting. What makes it all notable is the compulsion to brandish it, to share it, to make it overt, to be a sort of group fandom. Which is basically just hypnosis or some other programming to spread the mind virus. A certain neoteny + diffusion, with the reaction of the external world being a key component. In some cases maybe a sort of transferrence, or solipsistic mapping. Anyway, these scripts and programs are run occasionally.

That's correct, but the one example I provided and what OP said is a reaction that you would expect from most people.

It is normal when women compliment each other in public, but when men do it, people would get weirded out.

A female store employee said 'Here is your bag, sweetheart' to women, they would have no problem with it, but if a male employee said 'Here is your exchange, baby girl' to grown men, a huge fight would probably explode.

And nah, this has nothing to do with society polluting the minds. It isn't like that everyone has an agreement to react this particular way for this particular gender, etc.
