Why are all software jobs going to India?
So I've been looking at software jobs for a while. I'm not a great programmer but I keep in the loop. I know India has been a big hub for talent for a while but I noticed instead of visa hooolders coming here to take jobs, jobs are outright going to india now. When I look at certain websites that have job postings, they don't even list US jobs anymore. Western companies are straight hiring in India.

I don't mind India getting some jobs, but we can't lose both manufacturing to China AND software development and technology to India. Some of our western companies need the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ (legal) Axe to the face if they want to ship all our jobs over seas. The government should do more to keep these greedy CEO's who want destroy whole nations just so they can get a one time bonus or 1% increase in their stocks. I'm talking jail time, monopoly style breaking up of companies, Let the CIA come back and do it's thing to the CEO's so that if they want to destroy our future

in Globalism, jobs go where ever is cheapest and still practical.

Why should you, citizen of your first world country get to do your dream job, when a 1% person can make more money having the job done overseas.

Sadly this seems like where everything is going
in soviet russia job outsource you
It's going to wherever businesses can exploit cheap labour, not just India.
China, South East Asia, Africa, South America, etc.

This is why younger people should be wary about getting into programming. Because unless they're actually good at it and can specialize, they'll be competing with the Global South. Millions of developers slurping up all the entry-to-mid level positions for under US minimum wage.

It was clear 30 years ago, when there was the choice to do it in a regulated way - or to let business solve it their way. And it was also clear that option 2 would be chosen, as it means more short term money. Both ways would lead to the same result, which is the nice part - but option 2 is more painful, and people have to die for it, first to get the money, and then to take it back...

That reminds of this video:

"The World Is a Business, Mr. Beale" from Network movie circa 1976.
It's actually funny how some companies are blatantly trying to scam people from the developing world.
There is a forum for my specific corner in the industry where both employers and people looking to work could communicate.
One company tried to offer a guy from Brazil a 60k remote job, but everyone knew the job was worth 6 figures minimum. The guy got so upset at that lowball offer lmao

That is correct, as people often mistakenly think that money & profit has some type of loyalty to their countries, ways of life, political systems or set of ideals.

The only loyalty corporations & business has, is to shareholders & the goal of making profit & all that really matters is who can buy & sell.

True, but at some point this will only hurt the US to export these jobs. Eventually no one in the US will know anything about technology because there will be no incentive to learn it since there are no jobs for it. We will become cavemen from our own making.

So i´ll correct myself. It was clear 50 years ago. ;o)
So companies can pay less in wages. Yes, it's really that simple. It's absolutely scummy as hell, but at the end of the day its just how this horribly broken capitalist system works.

It wouldn't be the first time we've seen something like this happen.
hire 500 indians for a handful of green beans and black peppercorn
get night-unusable spaghetti code
hire 1 first world white guy who knows what he is doing to fix it @ 75k a year (should be more)
get workable product (but still garbage)

Cavemen? Nah. At most the USA might experience what Argentina went through for decades. Unless the average citizen over there regains their political will and power to fully overhaul the system itself, and to vote non career politicians that will focus in the medium-long term plans that will benefit everyone instead of very few people, in other words "government of the people, by the people, for the people".

In a worst case scenario you folks, might start to have a combination of the problems South American countries went through so far. Eitherway good luck to all of you

So many of the jobs are flooding to South America, if things get bad wages will go down and it might be cheaper to hire americans again

...

This has been happening for years.

Just do what everyone else does - Take a remote job for lower pay, pay some remote guy from India a pittance to do your work, pass it up through the ranks with your chop on it, cash checks while working at another job... /profit

Or China?

PS: IOW - Get mad skeelz, queek.

PPS: There are some companies with policies that don't outsource overseas. Some may also be looking for Federal grants/etc so they may be more focused on hiring in-country. (I don't work in the tech industry)
