For those who don't like (or even fear) thunderstorms, why?

Apparently a good chunk of people dislike thunderstorms and sometimes even fear them. Is there a reason to this? I ask because apparently I'm weird for wanting to chase them and see the most intense weather this world can produce.

Used to be, but now I find them calm and relaxing. Even when I'm sleeping.
