In some workplaces, the "New Guy," or gal, gets their first assignment to do the thing that nobody else wants to do. It's a Right of Passage. But, eventually, it's discovered that such a thing is so very traumatic that it actually degrades the potential quality of an employee to be forced to be indoctrinated that way. Management then reconsiders the culture and institutes change.
TF2 forums are were modbots and subcontractors undergo their live-fire experiences. They are not expected to survive. Most do not. And, if they do, they are not assigned to better positions, since they are already tainted. They are quietly dispatched or culled, replaced by fresh new faces or code, only for their positions to be endlessly recycled, again and again and again...
