Why do men get called "incel" for staying chaste?

throughout history, women have been praised for keeping their chastity safe. But nowadays, some groups criticize men who don't want casual relationships and prioritize their chastity. They label these men as "incels."

Why can't they just respect men's choices? Why is it so bad for men to stay chaste?

but in this case I had been with a girl for 13 years.. which ended 5 years ago..
she was.. troubled.. when we met.. and it took time for her to trust me (and people in general).. and stop being such a housemice.. even things like going out for a dinner where hills to conquer... so it took a decade before finally she was at a point I could propose...

than we went in a 3 year marriage planning period during which it was revealed "she not want kids" in our christian reformed circles thats unheared off.. the marriage vows very clearly state you must be open for the possibility for kids.. (so my AND her pastor clearly picked my side)
-she also kind of lied cause when we met a decade earlier she was open to kids just "not right now" as well that decade of phobias to conquer...

in the end she would not budge..
another thing that apeared was she could not give up authority.
when dating I was visiting HER house.. or she mine.. but when we were basiclly refusnishing a new house (that she happened to go live in until the marriage but I spend vast time to decorate it) she basicly had the greatest trouble alowing me any influence.. like she was expecting that the house, the marriage, everything else would just go HER way..
I can be strong willed too.. but I expect an outcome that does both parties justice.. after all
I and YOU become a WE.. you need to loose your own ego to become an ega..
she was incapable of that.. even after many talks with paster..
so in the end she decieded "marriage is not for me"

which after I already invested 13 years... ment I now was old... and it will be hard to still find a spouse..
many would NOT have been as patient with her as I was those decades..
even the first date took halve a year before it happened.. most man are like no date in 2 weeks NEXT...
perhaps I should have done the same;)

oh there was 2 things where I triggered her..;)
-I am not as punctual as her (I am often 5-15 minutes late except for when it really matters like when a church service or class starts but meetings with friends I tend to take we meet at 8 o clock well that can be also 7 or 9... but usually I be there somewhere 7.45 till 8.15
she HATED that
-the other was she was WAY to obsessed what other people thought.. to the point if I was working and wanted to go shopping she basicly orderdd me to get in a buisnuis suit before I did.. and noot go in my garden overal or wrinkly shirt.. for oh boy somebody might see me that knew her.. and than they would gossip over her by proxy.
**I would NOT budge to that.. I was like look if YOU want me in a suit case YOU like to look at that FINE that will happen.. but I give rats ass what those gossping others think.. and neither should you...

A man who can't get laid is simply seen as an undesired failure, for the most part. There are plenty of cases where so-called "Incels" are seen as laughing stocks and are mocked.

Bottom line, ignore the usual haters who expect you to conform to their worldview. If you choose not to engage in sexual activity,there is nothing wrong with you. If anything, you have my respect for not engaging in hookup culture like most others nowadays and for being capable of such restraint. Take one good look at the people who sleep around (especially women) and tell me they look happy and fulfilled to you.

it's hard to spot anyone happy in general. the last time i saw a happily married couple was in 2008...

Incel means to be involuntary celibate.

If the person is celibate on purpose then it is grammatically incorrect to call them incel.
