Shakira attacks Barbie film
"My sons absolutely hated it. They felt that it was emasculating. And I agree, to a certain extent. I’m raising two boys. I want ‘em to feel powerful too [while] respecting women.

I like pop culture when it attempts to empower women without robbing men of their possibility to be men"

Is this a sign the tide is turning on?

She had Kenough?
well, those hips certainly don't lie
It was a very popular film, I don't see how you can use the words of one person to justify the comment "the tide is turning", lol.

I don't think it matters what the message is, a film that has nothing other than a social message is a boring film.

I see people complain about this, but so far I haven't seen Hollywood change.
She took her two boys to a Barbie movie expecting them to feel somehow empowered? Should have stuck with Fight Club.

Also, her sons are 11 and 9 and they felt it was "emasculating"? I'm seeing many red flags here, OP.
Is it still April 1st?
SHould have taken them to openheimer instead then?

In the global South, men are taught masculinity from a young age.

Again, from a movie directed primarily at young women? I sense BS.
Talking about something- especially criticism- only feeds the publicity machine.

Piers Morgan hails Shakira slating Barbie after fears its 'emasculating' for young sons.

It has been reported on a lot news sources, not an April Fools joke.
It's a movie for crying out loud!

If it's truly threatening then it may be time to seek help.

Shakira
No offense, but who?
It was a comedy film though, it really isn't as damaging as some believe it is. It makes fun of both men and women, so what's the issue exactly?
We could start another culture war blah blah blah festival over this one.

Or we could learn to distinguish fact from fiction.

Nope. Never happened.

You sir, are trolling.
