if u enjoy it it's worth ur time. if not, it's a waste of ur time
Because this new version changed the plot dammit!
Did the Chinese version do all three books? I see that it has 30 episodes. I will look for a way to watch it. I hope someone subtitled it into English.
And did you watch the chinese series too? Is it really better?
Just finished the Netflix series and it was so goood.
i wouldnt say it is bad, but it is so different that it kinda makes me wonder why they even bothered using any source material at all since in this case doing so almost borders on pretending.
the entire setting for one, moving continents entirely and placing it in London instead of China.
i understand the concept of adapting for another format/medium, but there are some things that really bother me with this one.
i wont go into detail, but there are some elements that appear in the books at certain points for story reasons and as reaveals.
the TV series put some of these upfront for visual/aesthetic purposes, thus spoiling the impact and reveal those would have had later.
it is also clear they care very little for actual physics, while the books go deep into that.
i dont know if it is from simple ignorance, of from an idea that "the audience wouldnt get it", so they show scenes like plot critical crosshairs square on a particular target instead of accounting for travel time, and rocket staging just dropping everything at the very end, in orbit, (including boosters) instead of at the end of each burnout.
especially things like the rocket staging is so easy to do right that it makes me wonder why they didnt, as per the start of this paragraph.
all in all i wouldnt say it is actually bad, it has some actually good moments. and the books, in turn, have some really strange moments.
but the series does the story dirty in many ways regardless.
so anyone planning to read the books would do well to read them before watching the series imo.
and anyone not planning to read the books should understand that the series is very different from the books.
