Bill Roper bought the Hellgate London license and intends to make a new game with it
Does anyone still remember that guy and the game the was involved in after he left Blizzard way back in the late 2000's?

Well, he's back with a new company and he got the license for Hellgate back to make another game with it.

Anyone here that got burned by that game back then like I did and who has thoughts on it? I gotta admit - even though I still feel scammed with that lifetime subscription from back then I did enjoy the game to some degree and I do hope a new Hellgate will be good.

BUT I will not pre-order - NEVER AGAIN!

Well, looking at state the old Hellgate London game currently is in, i see no good reason for investing my time and money into a new one...

I mean, if there's an Open Beta for testing the game, i might give it a fair chance, but i'm not spening money on a Kickstarter Campaign or Early Access, and i will only buy the finished game when it's on a 50% sale, paying once full price for a Hellgate Londong game is enough for me.

For the living.

I was so hyped for hellgate London 20 years ago, I remember reading about it in game informer, or PC games monthly, one of those two, and couldn't wait for the next Diablo competitor. The next time I heard about it was 5 years later (iirc) it was on deaths door, going mtx focused. It made me sad.

I'll probably follow this new one with the same amount of interest

I'm with you on the whole not paying for Kickstarter, early access or all that other nonsense and if Roper would go the route of crowdfunding I'd at best get a chuckle out of it. But I will not hand over any money on promises.

But if the game turns out well (which I always hope for) then I'll give it at least a chance and to this day I still think the whole premise of the Hellgate game was pretty cool. It's just a such a shame how it was wasted...

I guess I'd give a Hellgate London sequel a look. Hellgate London was missing the magic of Diablo and Diablo 2 but was slowly turning into a pretty fun game when it closed. I doubt any of the other Blizzard North guys will be involved in this, though. They seem to have scattered to the four winds, and some of them are working on their own games. Peter Hu, Phil Shenk, and Erich Schaefer are making a Diablo-style ARPG, which should be pretty cool to see. I'm cautiously optimistic about that.
