people use it to look at their pants and see that they're made of a random mesh of fibers and go 'ewww' and develop negative associations with their phone/uv light.

Why don't phones have a UV blacklight? It's cool gimmick people would buy a new phone for and every law enforcement agency in the world would want their cops to have phones with a built in blacklight. This is my copyrighted idea and I thought of it first.

Wow, great idea!

Now, all the people suing smartphone manufacturers for the damage done to their eyes know who they should contact!

I hung a blacklight fixture in my living room by the front door when covid started.
They have these weak UV lights they require in deli's by the cutting boards to keep stuff killed off.
Covid is weak to UV as well... people were told it wouldn't work because it wouldn't "instantly" kill it. If I leave it on it does not have to instant.

Sanitize your air and look cool at the same time

That would be incredibly unsmart if you hung up a UV light strong enough to kill viruses and bacteeia. As it is, it is only partially unsmart since it can only do damage to your eyes.

If you want to go blind then this is probably good way to do it.
GunsForBucks Mar 28, 2024 @ 12:36pm
If you have it pointed in your face all day and look at it.

You know the UV in sunlight kills them fast too...better stay out of the sun then

Weak ones work over time, check out a deli next time, by the sink there should be this weak ass blacklight... well in this state according to the safety and food handling laws.

Don't see many deli workers filing lawsuits for blindness.

...

I just don't get it.

Most people have the entire collection of recorded human history and science in their pocket on-demand as long as their smartphone is charged up...

And, they don't bother to look up warnings about UV lights.

Social Darwinism is real and we are watching it happen.

(Hint - We can watch it because we're the ones who didn't stare at UV lights because they "looked cool." Big Eclipse coming up in about a week, so I'm sure all those peeps will be Donalding it in their front yards. Better learn Braile, quick!)

Then why are those crime scene investigators always wearing some orange tinted goggles when using the blacklight?

Congrats! You discovered the primary cause of Skin Cancer.

Bug attractors? Otherwise, they'd better check the labeling.

But, your "nuh uh" rebuttal is acceptable!

I have no problem with it at all - I fully support your right to stare at the UV Blacklight you hung up in your room!

Though, you should probably look at any safety information that came with it as well as the power range labeling, if manufactured in the US, to be sure it does not pose a danger. Or not - Who am I to tell you what to do? Enjoy!

Uh you do realize my "stare at it all day" comment was about how to get blind from it?

Not what I did.

Just thought I would make that clear, seems like you didn't make that connection.
And yes I am one of those people who read the small print while others click "agree"

Thanks for your concern though

Well, that's good to know.

UV light is invisible to the human eye, though. So, you know, since its actively being emitted and bouncing around all over the place...

Edit - Just take it down. It's bad for your eyes and does diddly in regards to sanitizing air at levels regulatory agencies would allow for home use. Take it down.

Well it was on 24/7 for a while till it burnt out, lasted long enough though. Couple of years easy, still I don't think I am blind now. Not sure.
