Wow did some "helping" tool for restoration and it freaked out on that album ha ha.
Back when I would sometimes rip physical audio, I usually did wavs. They sound good and load into the editors just fine.
Most of my collection now is MP3, converted my cds years ago. Not going to redo that ha ha.
And frankly when I was younger I would care more but at my age and tinnitus quality difference is minimal. My equipment isn't exactly studio rated either.
Fred Frith - Speechless Speaking of tinnitus this album is really triggering it ha ha
Is FLAC not cool, anymore?
Takes up a lot of space. Especially if multitracking.
Even more than .wav in some cases.
FLAC and OGG are pretty much interchangeable imo
I have mostly .flac in my library, so I still think they're cool! :D
Actually though, it might be a toss-up with .aiff because that's how a lot of labels release
That depends hugely on the compression level, of which there are 9 iirc, so that's on the encoder if they're space-hogging.
But space is still meaningless these days for audio, if you ask me. Video? Different story.
You know, I have to wonder how many people have a system where they can actually tell any difference. If all you're using is blutooth buds, it probably doesn't even matter.
