Not much. I don't like anime style. I like the Borderlands look while many people hate it.

If you like the Borderlands style, check out Aragami and Call of Juarez: Gunslinger.

Very important. I play pixel-art games, pretty much exclusively because they're pixel-art. A good theme usually means a good story.

people tend to forget that even realism can be stylised. for example, spec ops the line.

personally, if i were to create my own style, i try in a way that it doesn't feel artificial as a lot of npr rendering are just artificial to look at. i like wind waker art style for that reason alone. the closest one i can think of, at least as of now, would be an obscure indie game called lil gator game. is it fun? maybe. my complaint is that the game doesn't have that much to offer.

still, the reason why i still prefer pseudo realism is more of clarity and artificiality, and a lot of 3d indie games failed to win me for those reasons alone.

Artstyle is pretty important to me, so much so that if it doesn't appeal to me, then I find it hard to even finish the game. I regularly go through the concept arts of the games whose aesthetic I particularly like. The story, gameplay and the artstyle are the main three things which determine how much I enjoy a game. That being said, I really like the anime artstyle, especially of the Persona games.

The annoying chibi style is the only thing keeping Final Fantasy IX from being my absolute favorite, like it is Sakaguchi-sama's.

pretty damn important

some games try to go for the realism route but forget to stylise it, and it's really annoying

I liked the ff8 style
Good art direction can hide all the low graphics part in games.

For me a game is game. The reason why I play games is for the gameplay. Story/game design is only a plus/complementing the gameplay for me.

One that immediately comes to mind is the iconic VA-11 Hall-A. I've also had fun with Death Road to Canada, and there's also Stardew Valley, but I haven't really gotten to that yet.

Lately, I've just been playing Vampire Survivors though.

I'm not sure if I'd enjoy any of those games nearly as much if the graphics were any different. Stardew Valley in particular, I would have no interest in if it weren't for the art style.

Art style, setting / theme, and genre all play a major role in determining my interest in a game.

I really like the chibi anime style MMORPGs like this game.

In-game and in-lore she is god dang powerful. She has mastery of all elements, light, dark, gravity manipulation, tech manipulation, and can create life in inorganic matter to make minions and stone golems. Oh, and she can teleport anywhere she wants that is marked including her own minions.
