Is there a MP RTS where you control a single unit?

I remember playing an RTS back in the day, where you were placed on a team of around 3 other bro's, and each of you picked a unit type (Armor, infantry, air support etc.). I think the unit types leveled up over time also the more you played it. Man, I wish I remembered what that game was called because it was awesome. Forced people who wanted to be competitive to communicate with each other and, instead of macro's and micro-managing everything, you were immersed in the team work.

Are there any RTS games like that around that anyone can think of?

Warcraft III had a add on called Rexxar's Quest which had you control Rexxar and play through the game like an RPG focusing on only him, rather than a RTS where you build buildings and units. I think it was kind of a precursor to World of Warcraft.

I can't find any mention of it online. It was available on the disc version of Warcraft 3 and I played it a long time ago on a Windows XP desktop.

Savage / Savage 2, very old games, where 1 player per team is a commander that plays an RTS, and the rest are units that play in first/third person.

It's dated because it's a remaster of a game from 1998 but you control a single unit while you play. There's still an online community but it's obviously pretty small.
